After 4 rounds, our supposedly crap forward line is the most potent in the competition. No side has scored more points than us this season. But then on the other hand only Hawthorn have allowed more points against.

I think this is a positive though, we only scored above 100 points 4 times last season, we have done it in every game so far this year. Our defence can be fixed so i think its only a matter of time before our percentage starts climbing.

i think to comes down to a bit more than the defence. the boys are taking more risks this year and backing themselves. when the risks pay off they score goals, when it backfires goals are scored against them. i believe its a case of the players knowing when to take the risks ( i guess it would nolonger be a risk  ) and when to play accountable football.

The problem with our defense is that they play too loose. Even Jako was caught out many times, something which shouldn't happen to a 200+ game veteran of his class. We also need Prior/Green/Humm to come into the team to cover the small forwards.

If those areas are fixed, i believe our team will be a lot better (we certainly wouldn't have lost against pies, and would of given Melbourne a better run).

I agree with noodle - it's much more than the defence. Our half forward line is terrible at stopping the run of opposing backs and keeping the ball in the 50 Lewis, Langdon and Wilson-style. They'll learn, over time.

You're spot on VoR. I think our forwards can all take a lesson from Phil Matera who often creates scoring opportunities from his defensive work inside the attacking 50.

I agree, many a times ive seen Fido line up on goal after running down a player from behind inside our own 50...if we get all of our forwards doing this sort of thing we will be a much better team.

Interesting tidbit

I think a lot of the players should take notice of how the two Materas play. When they miss their tackle, or mark, they immediately run on to try again - not just stand and wait for the next person to try. They go in again and again.
