What's the point of playing this series when we put out a 3rd string team? Here i was looking forward too it and now i get to watch Michael Firrito prance around.
Pleased there weren't many saints though.

What's the point of playing this series when we put out a 3rd string team? Here i was looking forward too it and now i get to watch Michael Firrito prance around.

In the early days they sent all the big name champions, but they were not necessarily versatile enough for the modified game.

Montagna will be good, as would Gram if he played I think. I'd love to see Buddy but I think he's having shoulder surgery. Put him in the square for those massive high balls, can even punch some goals in. Would be awesome.

The team is clearly chosen as the best available players to suit the hybrid game and nothing at all like an Australian side. There is a total of 2 players from the All-Australian side in the squad.

It seems a bit weird that that's the case - but it looks like a pretty fast running team so should take on those fast little Irish chaps at their own silly game.

Can't believe Gram wasn't in there, i know a bloke that went to high school with Gram and he says he was just about the most athletic guy he knew. He's got pace and evasive skills. Disappointed.

It is done by invitation an acceptance, many players would prefer to take a break probaly why Roo isn't in the side

I could talk all day about how much I hate this concept and the AFL's support of it, but I'll just say congratulations Mick for making this series even less exciting by picking a bunch of good to average players, and thank god only 1 of our players has the oppurtunity to interrupt their pre-season for the sake of this bullshit.
