If the team continues to develop, which every poster on this forum pretty much expects and for good reason, we move into the position of serious finals contenders. In my opinion teams like Geelong and Brisbane had an edge on other sides due to a certain amount of intimidation. I am just posting this because looking at our squad and the potential best 22 I see quite a few players who have an intimidation factor for one reason or another.

MacFree because he is big and as hard as they come.

De Boer because he is fearless.

Sandilands for reasons I don't need to explain.

Crowley because he stops players.

Ballas because he is going to drive you crazy.

Hill because of his class.

Morabitto with size and pace.

Collectively our on-ball brigade can be very big. And classy. And aggressive. Next year I am hoping to see some opposition players spinning out of packs horizontally, wondering what time the next train will be coming through.

If we can string some away wins together with home wins it would help as well...

We were doing really well in that area until Barlow went down and the injury curse struck. Our depth in 2011 is going to be a lot better and with talented young players like Hill, DeBoer, Morabito and Fyfe getting another pre season under their belts, plus Barlow coming back. Freo should be better and stronger in just about all aspects. Not to mention a forward in Anthony who is going to assist Pav reaching the levels of scoring that we need.

I am very confident in the chances of our improvement in 2011. Especially in being far more competitive against quality opposition.

Add to that we have finally got a proper back up ruckman for Sandilands. Mzungu is gonna have an impact early, I have no doubt. Also the improvement for another good solid Pre-Season and most importantly the belief that we have got a young team that did really well this year and will only get better.

We should look from improvement from most of our young players but Barlow should be given plenty of time to recover. From someone who has done a similar injury I can say that he will probably feel a slight pinch on that broken leg especially late in the quarters or late in a game. He will feel this for the next 12 months at least.

I really think 2012 will be when he REALLY comes back to footy in terms of his contribution and fitness level. Lets hope he hasnt lost his appetite for the footy after that incident.

Yeah, spot on, agree with all those points. I think Mzungu's importance to the team has been really underrated, he can play midfield and across the halfback line and have an impact. He can be very damaging if used right. A loss of Sandi won't be nearly as badly felt (thank God) thanks to Griffo joining, that's been a major concern for a while.

i can't wait to see how other teams match up against us, now that we're not relying on a handful of players who ordinarily draw the best of the opposition. that's still going to happen but our depth of talent is tremendous.

12 wins at home and pick up a few away, should set us up for a top four postion. we should have a better depth this year ,with more players fighting for spots in the team.after the fight shown last year and with bigger bodys ,teams will be more intimidated against us
