Is anyone here planning on seeing them when they tour Australia? I'll probably make the effort to get to the show in Adelaide if the price is reasonable.

Also did anyone catch their performance on the NRL Footy Show last night? It was absolutely dreadful and I hope this is not the kind of live performance where going to see. I thought JD did his bit but the band were nowhere near the mark.

When they were on Sunrise the other day, JD's singing was terrible..I wonder whats wrong with him

im planning on seeing them. they are playin thebby which i think is a good idea. not many big name bands have filled the enter centre in recent times. tickets will be about $85. i think that is reasonable. its the cheaper end of the going rate these days.

Apart from Midnight oil, i dont think there is a band i have seen live more times than INXS over the years, starting from being taken to the Listen Like Thieves tour by my older sister and cousins as a little tacker right up to the Elegantly Wasted tour and every one in between, including every Melbourne show of their Kick, X and Welcome to Wherever You Are tours

But i just dont think i'll be able to bring myself to see this version of the band. I dont like the new bloke and still find the whole thing in poor taste.

You'll just fall asleep @ the gig If last nights performance was anything to go by.

The singer looks and moves like Gary Cherone (the momentary replacement for Sammy Hagar in Van Halen) which is not complimentary at all.

Even though we're told its a new band fact is the Farris boys can only write songs for Michael Hutchence...and it shows.

The singer is trying his hardest to show his individualism but has to sing songs with melodies written for Hutchence.

The band are so "has been' on stage they actually smell of moth balls.

I know you don't like them Oxx, but they are still my fave band and I have never had the pleasure of seeing them live at all as Michael died when I was only 8 years old. So I am quite desperate to see them live when they come to Perth later this year. Yes, it won't be as good as the concerts before with Hutch, but this is the only chance I have to see the others live in concert.

No idea if you know of Monster Magnet, but I reckon on that single that gets flogged on MMM, the new guy sounds a lot like Dave Wyndorf from MM.

the band should change its name - the tour will do down like a lead baloon - i don't think the band will record a follow up album. Could you imagine Midnight Oil going around without Garratt or Cold Chisel minus Barnesy?

They would be a much better band without Barnsey. Moss on vocals owns Jimmy.

Yeah got the Dopes to Infinity and Powertrip albums.

Can kinda see where you're coming from i suppose. I guess maybe if Dave went into rehab, discovered God and clean living perhaps there could be a resemblance!!

I just dunno if i could imagine the INXS bloke ripping out Spacelord with quite the same attitude though.

I think the notion of doing a reality TV show posed as a gamble to the band and they obviously took the risk. Overall, I think the choice of J.D has been successful. This is due to his presence which adds a youthful element to the group. Also, he has the conventional appeal to attract a lot of women out there, especially teeny-boppers. But besides the superficial attraction, he has the talent to satisfy most of the “original” fans whilst drawing new younger ones.
