Do classic iPods come in any smaller size HDDs than 80GB?

There seems to be a big gap in sizes between nanos (8GB) touch (16GB too expensive) and the classic which seems to only be available in 80GB and 160GB.

Don't think so but I must say the 80gb Ipod Classic is great value

Not in the current models. You can always get a second hand older model which come in smaller sizes.

the reason for this is that the 80gb ipod is of similar costs to produce as the 8gb nano, due to the technologies they use. So they sell it for only 100 or so more expensive than the nano so if people want portability they can go with nano. if people want more space than nano they can go with the big 80gb.

Can't have too much space. but you can have not enough.

I am going to the US in a couple of weeks. It seems that I can get an iPod Nano 8gig in the US for US$199 versus Aus$274 here. I am looking at getting one there due to the savings. Would I end up having to do anything or buying any extra accessories to get it working once back in Australia (Ac adapter or charger)?

No, because the standard out-of-the-box way of charging is via USB.

If you are going to buy an ipod from overseas you had better buy a charger from here because from experience the overseas charger that comes with it doesn't work over here even if you get an international plug for it.
It blows up.

The iPod comes with just the USB cable, so it will charge on any computer.

However, if the OP did buy an American charger and bought a power plug converter, it should work because Apple products are multivoltage so they can work in most countries.

You just cannot assume that buying an international product with a converter plug will blow up because a lot of other countries use 220 or 240 Volts, like here. A lot of Europe does, but America doesn't.

As a side note, it is great living in a country with the higher voltage, if we use our products in America they work fine, except they either wont charge as fast or they dont work as fast.

With my iPod I got it overseas (the first click wheel model) it had a international charger but all you have to do is take out the bit that plugs into the wall socket and plug a AC cord into it (ones that power portable steroes or PS2s) and it works fine.

We got one of those but it blew up. The international charger was faulty.

Hi both my kids have a i pod each and i do all the loading of songs etc etc on my laptop which has my fastest internet connection (wireless Broadband) however i put songs on my sons and am concerned that when i plug my daughters in it is going to load up the songs from his any one know if you can use to ipod's on same computer without loading the same songs on to each one naturally they have different taste in music there is probably a simple answer to this however i am missing it muchly appreciated.

Put them in a different folder with their names on it.

That is a bitch, you probably have to set the option to "update ipod manually" and do something from there. There are probably better programs out there that sync your ipod.
