I have just had a look at my draft calender and noticed that the two teams playing in the grand final have got only 3 days to back up a beep test at draft camp!

surely the AFL are smarter then that, it should be the week after!

WHATS THE RUSH, THE DRAFT ISNT UNTILL NOVEMBER 20!

Would have to be because of the school holidays.

They need to have the Draft Camp before trade week the following week so that clubs have a better idea of the value of the picks before they make any decisions on trades.

well they need to move trade week back a week to accomadate, because i dare say that there will be some very sore bodies come the sunday after grand final, it's all good to say well they dont have to do the beep or the 3km if they played the grand final!

but what if it's the players strongest asset his endurance it will not give him a chance to shine! hence putting doubt in recruiters minds!

they say they will take it into consideration, but what happens to a kid that is a 14+ beep test runner that hasnt done a test this year, and grand final gets a corky! given another week he could run it, but because it's only 3 days he has to miss the test!!!

it gives the players from the bottom four clubs a huge advantage! they can start training for it straight after the season and it may happen that people from the bottom four clubs could run better beep tests and 3km runs!
this may throw up some suprises in the draft!

true but i think that the selectors would already have a fair indication of who they are going to pick and their abilities. the camp is just to get a closer look at them, i think that they would understand that a granny 3 days before would take a lot out of them. its sumthing i wouldnt be to concerned about.

I would think that a stand out perfomance in the GF would outweigh a poor beep test/camp results, especially if it was clearly known that you got an injury in the game. A poor GF and a poor camp could hurt though.

i reckon it is. The team that wins will most probably celebrate for that week of the holidays. They wont get a recovery in because they will be out with their team mates so they will go upto draft camp very sore and most likely with a hang over. people will say that if it means something to a player they wont go out. But imagine if you won a grand final and all the work you had done since the previous november had paid off. wouldn't you want to celebrate it with your mates

Imagine you had a job interview for a $100k+ a year dream job that might set you up for life. Wouldn't your mates understand that you were celebrating with a mineral water and postponing the beers for a week?

But some of these kids will be underage - I'd be shocked and appalled if any of them were drinking before they turned 18. ;)

oh please open your eyes!!!! do you really think that people under the age of 18 dont drink??? and if you think oh they're footballers they dont drink well you need to get out more!

i know that some AFL clubs especially collingwood have been doing player tracks for the boys they think are draftable come november. So the boys from oakleigh, yes i said oakleigh wont really have to worry about the beep test 3 days after their superb grand final win!!!
