Idea Is it possible to stop getting followers' updates without unfollowing them?

I don't want to rock anyone's boat till it tips, hurt their feelings or make them wonder why I've stopped following them. But they really really really really REALLY like shows like Married At First Sight and the updates are bombarding my feed like nobody's business.

I like this nameless followee, they're a good egg and all, but something has to give. Is it possible to casually detach the trash telly updates from my feed without them twigging to it?

Incidently, I've checked to see and I'm not following any of those actual threads, just following the poster posting.

Thanks for that! Maybe this is needless worry but won't they get notified that I've (however briefly) unfollowed them though?
