No he is not. He was ordinary last night but will you all give him a little bit of a break? This will be only his second season as a 'regular'. Despite being still being woeful with the ball at least he is showing more confidence in his kick rather than just panicking like hell and looking to give a hand ball. Port Adelaide are also probably the toughest ruck opposition he could run into this year.
Answer to this question is hell no but the 2008 plan is not for him to be our number one ruckman. Blake should improve, he has no choice. If he does not then it won't be the end of the world (and still won't mean we did the wrong thing with King, ffs move on from it ppl) because West is an exciting prospect I'd love to see getting a game.
The funny thing is, for the last 3 seasons most Geelong fans did nothing but stick knives into King every chance they had. All of a sudden he's irreplaceable and should never have been let go.
Yes he was a Best & Fairest winner, and an All-Australian. But that was in 2002. Six years, and a LOT of injuries ago. The future is not with him. I'd hoped he'd stay, but obviously he didn't want the paycut and looked elsewhere. Fair enough. But I'm not losing any sleep over it.
Ruckmen take time to develop. Lots of time. Blake certainly is no star, but he's not the worst either. And he won't be coming up against Lade and Brogan every week.
