I thought I'd use the kids language in order to get some attention.

I'm not a Mick knocker because I think he generally gets the most out of our players, but is strikes me that Ratten has got a real edge over him in there 3 encounters so far. We were lucky to win that game late last year and the last 2 we all know about.

There were some glaring things that stood out to me at times today, and some are inter-linked.

1. We let them dictate the play out of the middle, especially centre bounces. We played with a very defensive mindset and when we got the ball we had no plan on how to get it forward. We just sought of stood in the middle and tried to clog it up but forgot that to get it forward we have to get something happening ourselves. Our rucks were smashed, not just in the tapouts (which were to nuetral effect) but when the ball hit the deck.

2. In respect of point 1, we didn't play some of our more effective centre clearance players (of recent times) in the middle. Pendles spent ages forward and not in the square and he never threw in Daisy or Leon (although Leon looked lame to me). What about Marty?

3. Fev was on fire and loves playing us. I though that Brown looked to be the best bet on him yet MM kept throwing O'brien on him. Blind Freddy can see that Fev is too big for him. I thought that Brown was ok on him considering Fev was on fire.

4. MM may complain about blockbuster fatigue but it seems that Ratten can get his boys up for this clash. I question where our anger and intent was?

5. Heath was tagged again by a player that just took him out of the game. Why couldn't he be played up the ground rather than just let him be removed from the play?

Unrelated side bits here --> Did we have any clear winners apart from Medhurst? Reid showed a bit and Swanny was ok but what the hell happened to the rest of them? Dids had a shocker, Daisy over used it, Leon looked lame, Cloke cant take a grab, arghhhhh!!!!!!!!.

I agree Ratten has Outcoached MM everytime so far and That does show me that MM time at the Club might be coming to an end

His time is coming to an end because a new coach has beaten him twice?
Malthouse is a brilliant coach

Malthouse is a doosh. Looks like a toilet brush and always finds something else to whine about instead off admiting he is a useless coach.

Are you having a sook, diddums?
Gee, I've obviously upset you in the past.

Keep trying , you'll find something intelligent to say, probably purely by accident, if you just keep trying. :thumbsu:

MM is brilliant but I think your fella has had the better of him so far.

I think point #4 is especially relevant. Good teams get up most weeks, and do the job against poor teams even when they're not playing near their best. It's called winning ugly. Seemingly, we can't do it, certainly not very often anyway. If we're not "on", we lose to whoever shows up, and if we are "on" we can beat whoever shows up. I think the fundamental problem is, we simply aren't good enough.

Mick is too stubbon, if should of been obvious to him that Fev was going to continuously tear Harry apart after Fev 4th goal and what 10th shot on goal and start doubling him, matching Brown on Fev is no upgrade over Harry.

Guess we could start praying that the team that played Geelong shows up in the finals and maybe we can go one step further next year and lose in the grandfinal.

Interesting points.

- Pendlebury up forward - I think he was suffering a bit today with his hamstring (they talked about this about on the TV) so he's probably not up to running hard all day?!?
- Marty in the square - he was playing on Betts? I think he kept Betts quiet which is no mean feat.
- I agree about Brown. He was starting to work Fev out and put in some great spoils.
- Also agree re: Heath. Although he was a bit of a general down back and had some big spoils

Rhyce was holding Judd for most of the game, so it was a pity he stopped playing on him. If the lads had held their concentration and played more attacking footy we could have staved off the last quarter.

We were killed in not having a Rocca-type player at full forward. At the start, Cloke was double-tagged and a third man waited back to clear defensively for the Blues. If one or two more had come up to help out we could have bombed in quicker and forced some more contests.

Not to worry, at the very least it means less posts from Blues supporters for a while.

No, MM is Fevola's bitch. Both times we've played Carlton this year, he's been the deciding factor, and on both occasions Malthouse has failed to react to the situation accordingly. I know it seems to be against MM's scruples, but there are occasions where it's necessary to double team a forward, and drop players back when a player is single handedly tearing us apart.

Oh, poor Mick.

Maybe you could ask the AFL to remove you from some of these terrible games that obviously put so much strain and pressure on your players.

Please, MM comments during the week made him look (even to neutrals) like a cry baby sook who continually looks for excuses for his and his teams shortcomings.

Carlton were harder at it and deserved their win.
