Anyone know who umprired as #17 PAFC vs Hawthorn yesterday and who speaks to them at half time?

#17 really had a special day out, trying to understand his interpretation of certain things, before and after half time

Thanks

Thank you Evelyn

It never ceases to amaze how its not the ones paid against our teams that flabbergast, its the ones they refuse to pay for our teams.

Herr Schmitt needs to approach his jumper sponsor (OPSM) and ask for some match-day help I would suggest based on the 1st half performance last Saturday (2nd half much better- who got into his ear I wonder?)

I'll be keen to see where he lines up this week- hopefully Bendigo. His 1st half interpretation was very "whistle happy" to say the least. Its as though the hand is moving to the mouth before the alleged offense occurs in readiness to blow the whistle, while the hand is biologically attached to the hip when the boot is on the other foot and the interstate team should be on the receiving end of a bit of equality.

The others were alright, but could have been a little more generous. Its not like Hawthorn needed help now is it.

Yes Mr #17...I am still shaking my head. I hope you have a good long look at your 1st half performance and ask why you refused to pay those frees that were there. My finger wags at you.

A scoreline is not a reflection on the rules, which should be equally applied with disregard for ones observation on the likelihood of one team being more likely to offend.

Tsk tsk tsk. Very disappointed mate, very disappointed.

Can ANYONE show me where in the rule book it covers "dissent" as an offence. Umpires now paying 50 when a player yells "what" at him about a free. Someone should also remind Geischen that for a Deliberate out of bounds to be paid - it actually has to BE deliberate ie kicking towards the line from 50 metres away can in no way be described as deliberately forcing it out of bounds. Welcome to Geischens noddy land. don't worry - finals are coming and Razor ray is in the mix - wonder how many games will be directly decided by umpires before something is done.

2 THINGS UMPIRES NEED TO DO AND IT!

THESE ARE NOT MISTAKES THEY ARE JUST BAD DECISIONS:

1. Do not pay soft 50m penalties!

too many for minor things.

2. Do not just pay Hold in the ball cause the crowd and or players tell you too!

the players know they need to attempt to get off the ball and i'm sure they try. They should never get pinged for not trying. Too many harsh calls on this.

Other than these 2 things umpires do a good job. JUST DONT BE TOO SOFT!

They hate acting in footy when it comes to being pushed or something similar, but you basically have to if the ball is under you. Advice to players: flail widely with all limbs while sitting on the ball and you'll be fine.

Yes.

Chamberlain was an unmitigated disgrace on saturday night.

If he ever umpires again, then it must be because they have no-one else to do the job.

Umpiring is fine. These guys are paid professionals and you will find they do work as a team. I have umpired a lot of football and am an umpires coach. The AFL guys and country guys work as a team and do not strive to influence games. They pay free kicks according to the rules.

Giesch needs to stop being so patronising & admit - with a whooole lot more of the frees that get pulled up - that "X got it wrong"
or "didn't spot it"
or "technically there but could also have been let go like others earlier".

95% of punters know there's a lot that can - technically - be paid for a free kick, but isn't regularly. The grey areas.

Likewise, most of us know there will be minute differences in how each umpire goes about it.
{Pretty sure the Sydney- Ess game there was a kerfuffle about, 1 umpire had been ultra-technical all day, the other 2 letting it go a bit more.
We just had the 1 ultra-technical guy in the "wrong" spot at the "wrong" time for us, nothing more.}

Stop pissing in our pockets.

Grey areas are what keeps Giesch in a job.

They'll always be in our game, and its something we've got to deal with to a point, but there has to be an aim for uniform interpretations, however impossible it might be.

If an umpire makes a technically correct decision that the majority agree should probably be let go then pull the umpire in question aside and tell him that although he made a technically correct call it would be preferred if he just let it go, instead of ticking every decision that falls somewhere in the grey area off as correct either way.

Sorry I got it wrong, Umpiring is disgraceful.

Hodge was ignored for a free kick because he was in the 50.. FFS If its a free, Pay the DAMN THING. Free any day of the week.

Advantage paid, to the Hawks wasn't there. This is a joke.

Two deliberate out of bounds not paid against the Pies in the dying minutes were shockers - they pay them all year then decide to do a full 360 and NOT pay them. Thats why Geisch must go NOW

I have no doubts that the standard of umpiring is worse now than it has been at any other time in the 43 years I've been watching the game. However, I also believe that the rules are more convaluated than at any time in the game's history.

End of the day, so long as Jeff Gieschen is in charge of anything you're doomed to failure. Third rate player, third rate coach, fifth rate umpires advisor. Honestly, how can anyone be so amply rewarded for mediocrity?

Time to scrap the MRP, dump Gieschen and stop fiddling with the rules.

This needs to be addressed now. Why does he still have a job?

The umpires in the AFL are generally very very good. Often what you see, they can't because they are on the other side of the pack. The error rate usually is very low. With one exception!
Razor Ray is without doubt the worst umpire in the AFL but for only one reason. He just has to impose himself colourfully on a game. A silly, pedantic, unrealistic free that has no context to the game so he can run in on prime time telly and flap his arms and have a voice over!!

Shocker
