Is there anyone who DOESN'T like the Simpsons?

I was just wondering if there is anyone on this site who actually isn't a fan of The Simpsons?

The people who post on this website seem the strongest demographic for Bigfooty - around the 15-25 age bracket. The show has an enormous influence on this site - just look at the number of the avatars, sigs and usernames that have directly come from the show itself.

But are there people here who don't like the show? Personally, I think the show has become tired and tedious over the last few seasons, and I hardly watch it anymore. It has become dumbed-down and lost the satirical edge that was so essential to the show's success, and has descended to the level of cartoon shows that you see on Saturday morning TV.

Anyone else think the show has past its use-by date or (gasp!) never liked the show in the first place?

I never used to like it, but then, I never used to watch it. I love it now!

As for people who don't like it, my parents. (and yet my dad watches flipping Southpark.)

The last series was ordinary but still probably one of the best shows on TV.

Agree, past it's use by date, stopped watching it about 18 months ago, go totally bored with it.

Over the years I've caught an occasional 5 minutes of it here and there, my kids have always loved it, I have never seen anything special, or eyecatching about it.

So I'm one of the few on the planet who has never liked the show

So sue me, lol...............

I'm probably one of the biggest Simpsons enthusiasts you will meet. I have a part in the running the most popular site on the web and it is partially responsible for many of the turns my life has taken.

That being said, I have found myself greatly disappointed with the last 5 years of the show. They went away from what made it great. The satirical content became secondary, the subtle character driven stories were replaced by throwaway gags.

Complex multi-level characters became exaggerations of themselves. It became a vehicle for "what stupid thing can Homer do next"?

Later episodes are plagued by wandering plots, weird non-sequiter endings and an overabundance of pointless guest stars and self-indulgent musical numbers.

The absolute most recent new episodes have been better, but still not anywhere near the first 7 seasons.

If you want a true measurement of the show's quality, watch an episode made before 1996.

Used to love them, especially the old episodes, haven't watched them for a year or so though, so I couldn't say whether I really liked them or not these days.

Always enjoyed watching The Simpsons, even when it went through some ordinary patches I still found a few laughs in each episode.

I have to say I don't know too many people who don't like it.

Not going to tell you which ones, though, because I've let them become horribly out of date.

It's an awesome resource for fans. Was going to sort out all my tapes using the episode lists from that site but it is a moot point with the DVDs being released now.

personally i think the Simpsons was a revolutionary show, that has unfortunately degraded in the past few years. Still, i watch most episodes, because i can always get a laugh or two

i love the simpsons, but do agree it has become a bit old over the last cpl of years.

watch the episode on Fox 8 tonight, which i've seen a cpl of times before, and it's just plain bad at the end.

It's the one wear Home and Marge are accused of murdering the old lady, and Homer gets Marge off the hook than he goes to the death chair himself only to find out it's part of a reality tv show.

very lame ending.

I'm one of those people that have never got tired of the simpsons (except any episode that revolves around lisa or marge). The series is running out of steam unfortunately and futurama has been canned, where to now?

They should stop making new episodes. Since about 2001, the new episodes have been repeating old jokes and the storylines have been ordinary. The 2000 series should have been the last IMO.

I love the show though. The older episodes are close to perfect.

Luv the show I hate it like the other day i saw an episode in FOx 8 (my gf's house) at 5:30 then at 6 on 10 they played the exact same episode.....made me very mad.
