I think this issue is too 'inside baseball' to ever gain any traction.

Only around 10,000 of around 70,000 members even voted in the most recent member election. And that was a historically high turnout. That number is the absolute maximum percentage of the membership who would even vaguely care about this issue and it's likely to be even lower than that.

Absolutely. This is a fight that the supporter bases should be working together on. I don't just think it's important, I think it's necessary for success.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think that Adelaide automatically gets member control over their board in 2028, I think the AFL just loses control, right? So the board members could vote to remain in power and to keep the members out?

We don't even have that.

Without a groundswell of pressure from the members, the Crows board will likely try to have the trigger pass by as quietly as possible. Our board certainly won't be changing anything without very significant pressure.

The other thing I think we need, and this might be more difficult, are prominent club champions to be the face of the movement. We had Tredders but unfortunately he's probably not the face we want anymore. We don't have many other obvious candidates apart from maybe the likes of Fiacchi. No idea who the Crows would have who would be suitable.

The control of the Crows board passes to the members, or any other group they choose.

I think Crows fans assume that they will get it.

Judging by the comments by Koch at last year's AGM I'd say thay from the discussion he has had with the Crows they have no intention of giving control to the members. Now that they are doing well on and off field their members will likely let them do what they want.

Great article but thought it could of gone a bit harder on the length of tenure of the current encumbents & emphasised their lack of success & lack of football knowhow. I acknowledge thats not the main point of the article.

I'm worried that term limits (and possibly a 3rd member vote) will be used as a last resort to avoid member control.

If it is just the likes of Koch picking the likes of Cardone to replace himself at the end of his term, what have we really gained.

I know in this instance Cardone would be at the end of his term limit too but if Koch is picking it will be someone similar.
