Like all Supercoaches worth their salt I am loathe to trade laterally.

J. Brown however is looming as an exception to this rule with his first two performances.

He is currently at $525k and looks likely to rise by as much as $50k if he has another 120+ performance in R3.

Thoughts?

its a long season and his opponents have been poor so far. I'd be patient.

Have to agree with Hess promised myself no early sideways trades so will bide my time. West Coast and Carlton are hardly the best defences going around and the Lions are yet to travel. In saying that he is looking ominous. Makes a change to see Fevola playing second fiddle to someone.

Port (Away)
Bulldogs (Home)
Melbourne (Away)
Sydney (Away)

What do we make of their next 4? Not sure really. Unless I can somehow get Robbie Gray out for him, I think I should play conservative.

Bulldogs is probably the main one he'd struggle against, given we have serious issues against their gameplan. Port tend to triple team him but with Fev down there now it should open up more.

My main problem with Brown is that I had him locked in as captain until about 10mins before yesterday's lockout.

Still, I'll take 170, but 340 would have been nice.

As for trading sideways to get him - glad I don't have to make that choice. A CHF full of confidence is a dangrous man, no matter who he plays on.

When doing your initial team it was fairly clear that the lions had a nice run up until round 9. I think most people were put off by many people on here saying that Brown is a traditionally slow starter and was a chance to drop in price after rnd 3. I had him in and out of my team and finally settled on ROK. Trading for Brown now is just a case of chasing last weeks points, its too late he has scored them already. Just have faith in the fwd line you have selected and hope to upgrade a Ziebell, Hall, Danger or Medhurst to him by round 13/14 if he's hopefully under 600k.

Brought him in this week for LeCras, good trade?

As someone said earlier he has already put those points on the board no use trading another premium for him already. With Fev in the forwardline he is bound to have a few small games as well which would make that the second most ideal time to get him (after the start of the season). To those that have him congratulations he looks in great touch, but I'm still happy with my squad so far.

I am glad I have him and dont need to make the decision, he can rip games appart and win games off his boot, both in real life and SC ;). We have seen him score thes 130-140s that just give you a big boost. :thumbsu:

Sure you did.
Here are his scores over the first 8 games of the season from the last 3 years.

2007 - 33, 135, 95, 94, 154, 95, 68, 76 - 93.75 average

2008 - 138, 92, 24, 138, 37, 57, 131 - 77.125 average

2009 - 79, 114, 98, 81, 74, 135, 97, 56 - 91.75 average

Although he looks to be in better shape this year, history would suggest that in the first couple of months he'll have some very big scores and also some very average ones.

Hopefully he'll have a couple of bad ones close together within the next 4-5 weeks and his price will drop a fair bit just in time to jump on.
This year is different, he has shed 3-4 kg and is pushing up the ground took 12 marks and had 19 kicks last night on top of his 7 goals that is SC gold. Y didnt you post up his 2006 stats wen he averaged 140 in the first 10 games ;)

If you only mad 1 trade (by having cash in the bank) very good trade but if you made 2 trades it might not be worth it. you will get a nice little price rise next week though.

Nah only the one trade, wouldn't have done it otherwise.

got about 120k in the bank at the moment, looking almost certain to upgrade lecras into brown now. maybe ryder/tippet (if they do poorly again) into sandilands instead.... probably the first one.

I have had Brown in the past (one of my first picked) but like Franklin you have to ride the inconsistency train....there were many choices around his price range so those who didnt pick him like me...have faith in your forward line

His up and down scores are the exact reason I didn't start with him, however, he'll most definitely be in my side at the end of the season. That has always been the plan.

It was the same last year, he had a couple of bad games close together and I was able to snap him up nice and cheap after round 6-7.

I'm hoping something similar may happen this year.

Picked Brownie this year because basically one of him or Fev would take the best defender away from each other and Brownie playing more CHF plus a geat contested mark. Also something different then Pavlich for a change.
