Living in Perth I havent been able to watch how he has been going since coming to Victoria, but from what I heard here many have said he just wont make it.

Thought todays game wasnt too bad, was it a fluke?

Interesting you say that the word is he wont make it. I percieved his presence at the club as positive and very good up and comer. today wasnt anything special but the kid has played under 5 games. i think he will be great. very fast and will need to bulk up however. is the word from perth that he wont make it? number 8 in the draft surely we aint dudded aagin.

Was a pretty good game from JON. He went alright. Give him a few more games and see how he goes. Needed to have a shot though in the last to put us in front. Wouldnt have done any harm having a shot. We needed to grab the lead. He can make the distance (ie: point in the Essendon game last year that tied the match late in the game).

Remember also he's been playing all his footy at Coburg at CHB/HB flank and today was asked to play a lot elsewhere which makes it a little harder for him.

I thought that was real intelligent play by JON in the last. Too bad his own teammates werent on the same wavelength

I saw him 2 weeks ago at Coburg and was really impressed with his development. Very pleasantly surprsied. He looked pretty composed today and looked like he belonged. Now he just needs us to keep the faith I think. Did all that could have been asked of him today.

I agree, was a better option than landing it a meter out and having it thumped through for a point, its a worry that the team cant co-ordinate a play like that though.

Very impressed with JON's efforts today!

Lets hope terry leaves him in the seniors so he can become used to AFL and continue to develop his game.

still needs some more bulk, but he has definately earnt himself a sopt for next week IMO.

We could also have done with a leader like Johnson or Bowden to do what leaders do and run over to JON and tell him to line up and have a shot.
Our leaders are weak as. Richo excluded.

I'm pretty sure Bowden did go up to him.... about 80% sure he did.

Like to hear if someone else can back me up?

Funny thing about the Perth locals is punter that they were bleeding that we took him in the draft before they could .... word around the campfire was the tried to "warehouse" him ;)

sour grapes my friend ... looks very much the goods

Wonder what he said?
Perhaps - If you can't make it give it off?
If he said "kick the goal" then surely he would do what a Senior player in the leadership group would tell him?

did more than enough to suggest he needs more senior game time. if ti was a toss up between him and krakouer pettifer play the kid.

aghhh, there's not too many tiger fans with patience, I only realised in the record today this kid is only 19 in 2007. He's played stuff all footy since arriving, Id say 12 or 13 games. He looks to be a natural to me and will thrive with some experience behind him. Expect to see him in the seniors for a while longer:thumbsu:

wasent the only question looming over his head his kicking skills
they looked alright today

anybody know if they have improved since arriving at the club

To me he seems the sort of kid that will do everything possible to improve his game. He should be aiming for 22 games season. His kicking today was fine and his decision making in defence was pretty good i thought.

Exactly what TW said in the post match press conference - but isn't it his job to make sure that there are set plays for this type of situation:rolleyes: .

With all these youngs guys running around it's probably that part of the game that will come with experience and familiarity.

Didn't get to the game but good to hear that it was a decent showing by most if not all the players out there today.

Having seen JON a couple of times at the VFL I was a little disappointed in his game today. He is capable of so much more, but with lack of game time, lack of experience and adjusting to AFL level it is perfectly understandable.

For those who are worried about him, trust me he has a LOT more tricks up his sleeve and a LOT of talents that he hasn't even touched on yet in the AFL. Point is, he has a lot more tools than what you saw today and you can expect him to be a great player.

From what Ive seen him in Coburg and
AFL, he still need a lot of work. Just because he was top draft pick dont mean he should be picked. He cant kick and I would prefer Krakauer to him at this stage.

Clearly havent been watching the same JON as me then. His kicking might look ungainly but it is effective. The only bad kick on saturday was when he popped it up to the top of the square in the last quarter, and that wasnt a bad kick but a bad choice, otherwise he was 100% effective.

As for having Krakouer ahead of him what a joke. JON proved pretty much as effective as Krak does in the majority of his game with something like 60% game time. I'd rather have JON getting experience instead of wasting a position on Krak.

Agree 100%. Looked like a set play, but WTF didn't anyone else cotton on to it?Was never going to get the journey, so he did the right thing.
