Just had a look through the stats at Full forward's goal tally for 2nd year players

Lockett(20 games) and Dunstall(22 games) both Kicked 77 goals in their second year.
Jack (47 goals from 22) seems to be on track with Johno Brown (38 from 16 games)

So thats still over 500 goals

others
Fevola (14 from 22 games)
LLoyd (18 from 18 games)

Not sure if all of these are correct. I had a look and got these figures for some of these players in their second year.

Jonathan Brown (38 goals from 25 games), so Darling is tracking ahead of Brown for goals per game in their second year.
Fevola (26 goals from 14 games)
Lloyd (18 goals from 11 games)

Not the best game by JD completely blanketed by McPharlin in the 1st half but got a bit more of it when Dawson was moved onto him. Delivery to him was average but didn't convert the opportunities he did get by missing a couple of goals at least one of which you would have expected him to kick.

He is up for 100 goals this weekend.
Pretty awesome considering he is 20.
Could see him on West Coast's top 10 Goals Records by sometime next year (which is ridiculous):
1 514 - Peter Sumich
2 389 - Phil Matera
3 278 - Quinten Lynch
4 259 - Chris Lewis
5 239 - Mark LeCras
6 237 - Brett Heady
7 217 - Peter Matera
8 211 - Andrew Embley
9 205 - Ben Cousins
10 168 - Josh Kennedy

He'll definitely feature easily in the top 10 by careers end, but would be absolutely amazing to see him reach Sumas record!

Only if Kennedy has a long spell without goals, otherwise he has to aim for Ben's 205 ;)

As new sponsor for Jack 'The King' Darling for 2014, I thought I would get started early.
With big news. The King has resigned for an unknown number of years and for an unknown salary.
Knowing the quality of The King, I would probably say with good estimation and mathematics that they (the eagles board) offered him 10 million for 9 years, which is fine by us.

About Reminiscence:
Reminiscence has shown excellent choices for players whom he sponsors. Sponsoring Andrew Embley in 2011 led Embley to play at an All-Australian level and recapture his blistering 06 form. 2012 led to an increase in development from Lycett over twofold of what any other ordinary sponsor would of done. In 2013 Remi led a hapless Mitch Brown into the First 22 as a key position player with massive biceps and amazing steel fists, further cementing his ability and skill at sponsoring the right players and getting the most out of them. In 2014, only the sky is the limit for The King, with Remi backing him up. 100 goals for 2014 looms large, unless Simpson plays Darling in the middle and at HHF as well, where we will see Darling average 25 possessions a game, 2 goals a game and shoe-in for AA and Brownlow.

The Return of the King

NAB Round 1: King too good, checkmates Fremantle.

In an absolutely dominant display, the King spent time at FF, HF and in the centre. Was very interesting to see how he coped in the midfield, and he didn't disappoint. Not only that, King was dominant across HF, and often was the link man, showing from his 8 marks.Fremantle were simply too slow and flat footed to contain King in the air as well, grabbing some strong contested marks, and again showing his team play by having Kennedy jump all over him, just as Naitanui used him as a step ladder several years ago in a very famous mark.

Outlook/Prediction of this season: Look to see King kick less goals but have more possessions and a greater impact on the game. His work ethic on the field is again second to none, showing by his 5 tackles, and is a very strong pick for DT/SC.

Final Stats:
9 Kicks
8 Handballs
8 Marks
4 Frees For
1 Free Against
5 Tackles
1 Goal

Rumour Mill:
In other news, besides texting my best mate to give him crap over getting pounded by WCEs in the pre-season, I also had to remind him of the GF he lost. He ain't too happy with me right now, pain is obviously still raw.

Further Thoughts:

King also still posses that remarkable IQ on the field and sometimes seems a step ahead of everyone. If he can work on his agility a bit more, could a permanent move to the midfield with stints in the forward line be the future? With the huge popular 'phase' of getting 190+ cm midfielders, he's also one big lad that's extremely strong and tough to move, let alone take down. Will be very interesting to continue to watch his development.

Did Darling play the full practise match against Freo or did he just play a half?

Round 1: King thrives under Homer

Big game from the King today. Against a young but talented team in the Doggies, it was always interesting to see whether Darling would put up big numbers against players who frankly he should dominate. With the addition of Sinclair as well, a lot of focus was drawn off of Darling, with the powerhouses of Kennedy and Sinclair/Cox/NN rotation drawing their attention. As such, Darling was often found against a player smaller in frame and size. Besides showing his trademark tackling pressure, he also had a tireless work ethic, presenting time after time. Also kicked 4 goals and set up several others. A guy who some say is on the cusp of stardom, I believe he has what it takes to become that AA player. Perhaps it won't be this year, but another two or three years and Darling will begin to peak. It's scary to think that Darling can only get better, as he's only 22 this year. On his move to the midfield, Darling played tiny stints in the midfield but looks to stay mainly in the FWD line this year.

A lot of flak has been on Darling for his poor contested one-on-one marking. We have been rather blessed to see him win some big one-on-one contests in the previous three years, but on the time that he was one out with his opponent, he beat him solidly. With a lot of attention going to be on JK and LeCras, Darling is set to blossom even further after his 2nd year of being the no.1 guy.

Stats:
9 Kicks
7 Handballs
3 Marks
2 Frees For
5 Tackles
4 Goals
96 AF points
