I would have said no to Watts because he's a pea-heart but watching that video of the pre-game he looked more like he just wanted out of there. Depending on the cost and we're talking late pick like Cale Morton style then I'd choose him.

Trengove depending on where our first rounder is placed I'd consider. He is under the pump as a young captain at 21 years of age. Too much for him IMO. We rated him fairly highly in his draft year (above Martin I believe) so must have been a reason for it. Imagine him under Cotchin, Deledio, Tuck, Martin, Conca, Foley coming in as our 7th/8th mid with Vlastuin. Won't leave though so pipe dream.

Grimes is one I don't rate that highly compared to what we have. Is he a mid or a defender? Injury prone and we already have Dylan who we worry about keeping on the park. Again he won't leave anyway as the captain of the club.

Geez tigs, I rate Grimes the best of the lot - reckon both Grimes are over their injuries ;)

But yeah, as far as raiding the Dees goes, thread is a little distasteful, even though I have no real sympathy for them. Just don't see a need to trample over their graves.

Iit seems unlikely trenners would leave, but a year of what they have served up so far plus the stupidity of him having the captaincy I can see him wanting out.

Biggest mistaken neeld has made is making trengove captain. Kid is still learning the game and had yet to have avert good year and you lump him with that pressure. Jones or Rivers should have got it, maybe Frawley.

I agree with you on Watts. I re watched some highlights of his champs and he certainly wasn't a hard footballer but he didn't lack intensity either. Now he just looks completely disinterested.

Looks like he can play some good games. There's just something about him. Haven't worked it out yet. He seems to look awkward the way he plays. I think if all left and went to a good club Trengove will end up the best by a longgggggg way.

Rather not pick over the bones of Melbourne. They need the talent.
That's not a reason to not take a player. Who cares about them. It's about bolstering our club. Question is whether the club thinks any of them are worthwhile.

I'll never understand why they made Trengove captain, they had quite a few options like Grimes by himself, Frawley, Jamar, Jones, Rivers and even Moloney (not the best option but surely better than heaping that pressure on poor Jack)

Edit - To answer the question though I would definitely pick Trengove, still think he'll end up a very good player even if he stays at Melbourne

If any one of these 3 wanted out, I'd offer Watts a home (at the right price).

But I cant see it happening.

My thoughts are that Melbourne will work hard to improve their brand by seasons end - which is likely to include changes to the coaching staff - and gain the trust and buy-in of the playing group.

Jack Frawley?

Seriously though, I'd go Watts. Heart can only grow to the size of the club. Very talented and will thrive with some actual development and not having the need to carry a team on his shoulders. Would do well at Tigerland

**** them. Hope we're circling with all the other vultures.

Their fans can go follow the Rebels - Rugby Union's a predominately upper class, private school sport so it's taylor made for them. Plus the Super 15 season is usually over before the ski season peaks.

In order: Frawley, Grimes (would trade the likes of Rance in a heartbeat to get either of them), Blease - Watts only if on the cheap, rookie Max Gawn.

Trengove would be sweet, but not realistic.

Grimes, easily. Has struggled with injury in the past but by all reports he goes above and beyond in terms of getting his body right...must be in the genes. As a 50 odd gamer being shoved into a co-captaincy role he's obviously under a LOT of pressure. Remove him from a position of responsibility and I think he'd absolutely flourish and compliment us quite well. Having Dylan here would be a massive draw card IMO, both in terms of Jack being able to play with his brother BUT also in terms of learning about how good our culture is. It worked for Knighta after he spoke to Ivan, so it could certainly work here.

From a reasonable source, Frawley wants out. He requested a trade to Saints last year, was held to his contract though. I would want us to go all out for him. A backline of Chaplin, Rance and Frawley with Grimes, Houli and Morris taking the smalls and Batchelor playing the loose role would rival the competition's best.

Out of the Jacks... Good question. I'd probably take Watts and stick him at FF. Quality usage of the ball and attention to Jack and Ty will have him flourish. I doubt he'll be a Demon in 2014 too.
