I have heard the melbourne coaching staff are having some fair concern with Jack.
Things mentioned include
- Lack of Intensity
- Mentally Weak
- Lack of Desire
He is an amazing natural talent, but does not have the killer instinct.
Scully and Trengove have come in and set the bar in terms of training intensity and Watts has been left behind. Will not get picked until he lifts on the training track and shows a bit of 'want' to play AFL footy.
It is Travis Johnstone all over again!

Yes, I've also heard all that... from countless BF posters wanting to take potshots at an injured 19-year-old whose body stick resembles a stick. Sounds like BullSh1t to me. But yet, I've also heard countless times that he's a great bloke who can't wait to get out there, has a really level head etc etc ad nauseum. Give the boy some time!

Every single person wants to know why Jack Watts isnt playing along side all the other young players in our team all with similar young bodies as him.
The issue is a training issue.

I know we crap on about the whole 'takes 5 years' line, but it's fairly true.
They're different players, but look at Frawley 3 years ago compared to now. He was thrust right into the thick of things early, largely due to the fact that he wasn't No.1 and didn't have the stigma, and has progressed to the point that right now he's having a great start to the season.
Don't read into this comparison too much ('Yeah, but Frawleys a backman,' 'Yeah, but Frawley can eat more Weetbix'). I'm just saying that gives somewhat of an example that with time and practice, magic happens.
On that note, with the whole 'Oh Nata was playing WAFL before he got drafted so he's was more ready for AFL' thing.
Why do we have TAC cup in Vicco?
Why aren't young Victorians just fed into the VFL system, for the years before they get drafted?
I know the TAC Cup gives them specialised training, but those initial years against bigger bodies seems to pay off (see: Nata, Rich)
Enlighten me.

Rich and Naita start in WAFL colts and when they were good enough, progessed to the reserves and seniors. Can players in the TAC cup (VFL colts) not do that? Even Trengove was playing in the Sturt 1's.
