Killed it tonight. Very well spoken. Talked about drugs but not taking them so already we're off to a better wicket than Essendon.
Surely will be on the RFC boards radar. Retire right into management at Punt Rd :thumbsu:

Jackson may well be the 2nd brilliant Richmond footballing intellectual to be talked up as CEO of the club or head of the AFL and go on to do such things, but interestingly, didn't get to lead their own club and spent most of their career considered as very disposable by a majority of supporters.

I loved and love Benny Gale. FWIW, I'm sure Jackson is a point or two sharper if you look closely and make comparisons at the same age.

Everyone champions O'Brien as the thinking mans footballer but he is second rate compared to Jacko.. Intelligent bloke and humble.. Good combo :thumbsu:

Disgusting. Some role model.
? Can we trade him to Essendon to help out with the not taking drugs, or is their whole playing list being deregistered along with the abolition of the club as a fair and reasonable punishment for pushing the boundaries? ( which is what I'm voting for, along with the dissection of NotDr Dank to check for long term effects and to verify if human)

Great interview. Did a good jobe compared to some people

Watson's been an absolute pillar of strength in the midfield for his club during the toughest of years, doesn't deserve to cop any flak, IMO, CC.

If he led our club the way he's led Essendon this year I'd be so proud of the way he's carried himself and bugger what he says in any interview, trying to make some sense of an absolute farce and retain the dignity and honesty he's always brought to the game.

The AFL heirarchy just show what cowardly, clueless, ineffective dogs they are every week this joke continues.

Essendon get to dent and influence the competition, when the evidence was clearly there to prevent them from competing at all this year. But no, over half-way through the season, whispering lieutenants at headquarters still threaten every retrospective punishment under the sun, loss of points for this year etc..

Beyond all contest, the AFL chose revenue and 'situation as normal as we can manage it to be', over ethics.

They haven't even bothered to pretend that the spirit of football, fairness to all concerned and getting to the bottom of serious ethical problems, hasn't been made secondary to the figures that they, the AFL as a corporation, will turn over this year.

Essendon out of the comp in March using a red pen and ruler = major financial loss quite probably extending beyond one year and the AFL spending 2013 known as a 'tainted' competition.

Essendon *maybe*/*probably*/*possibly* still in the comp = normal expected revenue while we're all expected to speculate and rationalise about all the possible 'investigation' insanity imaginable.

And maybe the taint won't stick. The Melbourne taint didn't and hasn't.

Exactly the type of player GWS need on their list to guide their young kids into becoming good representatives for their club - They should do everything in their power to aquire his services

Dom Tyson will do.

A man of his intellect deserves at least Tyson and Adams in return, even then they would be paying unders

You get the feeling Mike Sheehan was really taken with him... I could see Jacko entering Politics after footy.. impressive bloke...

I especially loved the way he talked about having to fix his game...There's been alot of Jackson detractors in the past - I admit being one - but we had good reason...There's no doubt about it - his decision making has improved out of sight this year, and it was good to hear him talk about what he's been doing to change, and the admission that it's made him a better player.

Jacko presents himself very well, although when you're trying to champion every single cause you can come off as more of a political figure than sincere. Not saying he's anything like Bill Shorten, but hoping he doesn't try to spread himself too wide across every issue that comes to light.

O'Brien likes to play the obvious card by tarring everyone with the same brush. Having a chip on your shoulder and crying foul every opportunity you get doesn't solve any problem, or even bring it to light. Just makes you irrelevant in the long run (which he has virtually done now). Jacko has him covered in spades.

Good stuff Jacko - I'm guessing its this kind of thinking combined with hard work and onfield leadership that makes him part of the leadership group at the club (I can remember many people being bemused, myself included, that a player with obvious limitations and perhaps too much aggro could be one of the 'leaders' at the club). Seems to have really turned a corner this year to his credit :thumbsu:

Excellent summation of events. I agree with everything you just said. Smart man. :thumbsu:

What a great role model Daniel Jackson is. He has come a long way since his "smart-arse intellectual" one-off Footy Show panel experience and last night he was as Mike Sheahan would say, "compelling" viewing.

O'Brien is a classic hypocrite in that he denied calling someone gay yet is fine to call someone fat. At the end of the day you are denigrating someone regardless of the method. As much as it can be seen as trivial ribbing someone about their physical stature i'm sure somebody will feel aggrieved.
