Hi again.

Just an observation about Jack that I have made. We all know he has struggled this year compared to last year, however I feel he is now a more "complete" footballer nowadays. I think in the past couple of months he has lost some of that petulance that he had when things weren't going his way.

Even though he isn't marking as well as before, his general play with the free ball is fantastic. I can remember that incredible pass across his body to a team mate in scoring position a couple of weeks ago. I think he is a cool composed footballer and always feel confident when he has the ball. Probably with Vickery doing so well up forward it is good to see him playing a little up the ground.

Despite less goal from him this year I have been happy with Jack's overall progress. What are other's thoughts?

Probably our best and smartest user of the ball kicking in to the F50, which is a shame considering he is the one we want him to be kicking it to. :)

been saying all year, he's one of the best (perhaps when not under direct pressure) kicks in our team.. just never had much of a chance to show it off at full forward.

58.26 says otherwise :p

But yeah, I know what you're saying :)

Dimma said he was really happy with his game today and that he's probably not getting the credit he deserves for the roles he's playing. He usually kicks to the right option and brings other players into the game, pretty good one on one and a great player to be delivering the ball into the 50. It's a great way for him to get involved in matches while he's still probably not at his running and jumping best.

Apparently rates his own season as about 65/100, but he has been pretty solid in the last few weeks. Looks much better when he's running and jumping at the ball, instead of trying to out-wrestle his opponent.

If he gets a solid pre-season with no injury troubles, should be back leaping and pulling down marks like 2010. :thumbsu:

His field kicking is fantastic- today several times spotted up players 50m + away and delivered precision kicks to them. Love having him line up at FF but roam up the ground as he wishes.

Considering he seems to have missed as many as he's kicked in the last 2 months, he must have got off to an absolute flyer.

He's not so much a great kick (although he is shooting for goal) as a clever kick - he sees things other players miss. he's always trying to create chances rather than just 'play the first option and see what happens'.

His kicks are always to advantage - sometimes a great advantage.

I wouldn't say he has struggled compared to last year. He has been playing a different role this year in a more successful team so I think Jack's year has been fantastic. Him just being present in the forward line this year has enabled Vickery to kick bags as well.

What I liked most about his game on the weekend was that he didn't touch the ball in the first half, but continued to work hard and had a much better 2nd half.
Persistence paid off.

very happy with Jack this year - he was never going to outdo last yr, and has improved his chasing, pressure and continued to create opportunities when not in gfront of the sticks. However, he is a great shot and reads the ball beautitfully - our other fwds and mids should be providing pressure and opportunities TO HIM.

? anyone crunch the #s - how many opportunities has he converted / had compared to 2010?

I think its a little down in both categotries, but dont think he has been playing up the ground that much more.

Over 50 goals again si a bloody good return. When you add in the change in role and the injury its a pretty good season all round. Was nice to hear Hardwick confirm on One Week at a Time his injury, also clearly explains why we havent seen Gourdis again.
