Im surprised no one has put this dilemma to a poll yet, so here it is.

Who would u prefer to Trade, Jacobs or Hampson?

i certainly know who i would prefer and who i think has put in the better performances throughout the season..

Jacobs has the runs on the board at this stage but I'd rather hold onto Hampson. Way more upside, just have to persevere a bit.

I'd rather hold on to both of them.

However, if it comes to having to trade one or the other, I'd probably reluctantly get rid of Jacobs.

Good player but I think Hammer will offer more, especially around the ground.

Hampson was poor against Freo but he's tracking OK. Was very good last season as a 2nd ruckman, and in his first year as a semi-forward he's done reasonably well at times.

both will be B grade ruckmen, ie nothing in the class of Kreuzer or NicNat. Nothing much will seperate them over their careers, Jacobs will be a consistent work horse that never really shines and Hampson a 1 in 3 great game where he dominates.

So we should trade the one that lands us a better trade, such as a KP Forward or Defender or a nice draft pick. If Hampson is more attractive to clubs and they will offer up more for him then trade hampson and vice versa.

i seem to hear the words "potential" and "Hampson" too often in the same sentance. im still waiting to be honest..

I'd rather have both - god knows we've needed all our rucks at various stages this year. However, if we have to trade one, it's Sauce.

And maybe that's the prudent thing to do. Trade a developed ruck to a club that needs one for something we need, and then pick up a young ruck prospect at the draft table. All our rucks are young, so we've got time to experiment.

Hampson's more athletic. - Better suited to the modern game. He'll just take longer.

Can't keep all four ruckman though. They all have loads of ability and should all be playing at AFL level. So I'm not agreeing with the "keep both" sentiments. It's bad for their development.

where is the both option.

Both are contracted to the end of next year.

We wont be seeing Kreuzer back at 100% until around rounds 6-9 next year. Trade away one of them and if one of our remaining 2 rucks goes down early next year or breaks down in the pre-season, we start the year off with 1 ruckman.

Hampson will be way better.

I would rather us have traded him to port last year for a top 10 pick and get butcher or another quaility youngster, and keep jacobs as a cheaper option in the VFL/ back up.

Hampson is not going to get worse, when he is 25, 26 he will be a much better player than jacobs.

Would rather hold on to Jacobs. I almost feel that if we were to get rid of him he would go on to do amazing things at another club. Like I said about Hampson, the only word I have ever heard associated with him is "potential" although we have not seen any consistancy with him, I also think we would be able to get more in a trade for Hampson than we would Jacobs.

Jacobs is a first ruckman..

You dont take a Jacobs type in as a 2nd ruck IMO. The 2nd ruck has to be able to move around and offer something different in today's game.

He will never be our number 1.

IMO it will end up with Warnock/Kreuzer sharing the number 1 role and both floating forward.

Hampson will either come on as a full forward, never amount to anything, or end up at another club in 3-4 years.

only read who do you prefer - Jacobs has scope to improve and works hard
Physically Hampson is amazing but his skills maybe at their peak

Reluctanly i would keep Hampson over Jacobs. We have an excellent ruckman in Warnock but what we dont have is tall athletic forwards..(or enough of them)

I wish Jacobs all the best at another club as he is certainly an AFL player..

I think with Jacobs being from SA and a few quality players wanting out from both clubs over there, now is our opportunity to trade him reluctantly for a Chris knights, Steve Salopek, Travis Boak(not sure if he signed up), Jackson Trengrove(Victorian boy playing out of position as Carlie and Chaplin are key back post best mates with Lucas who is staying with Trengrove's family) or similar type player in his boat. Both SA clubs need a ruckman IMO and Jacobs would benefit from the move and get an opportunity to turn himself into a number one ruckman of an afl side as we agree he wont become our number 1 ruckman. For a trade also through in Austin(go home factor) or Carlos for good measure as both seem not to make it in our side.

If what BiB said is true, then Sauce is going for more game time. Hampson is irrelevant in the equation really, even if the club traded him then Sauce is still up against Kreuzer and Warnock for a ruck spot.

You all talk about how clever the kid is, he'd know that his only possibility for more game time is another long term injury to one of the other 2, so it's better for him to go somewhere he doesn't have to compete for the No 1 ruck spot (or at least not compete against the likes of Kreuzer and Warnock).

IMO we should trade hampson for 2 reasons. 1st in a trade we will get more for hampson than jacobs. 2nd hampson doen't bring anything to the team that kreuzer and warnock dont already do better but jacobs is a completly different style of ruckman than kreuzer and warnock.

This.

Hampson is way too overrated by too many on this board. Jacobs is and will be a better ruckman & while Hampson has made a couple of OK cameos in the forward line he doesn't show enough to be considered a long term forward option.

Jacobs has the runs on the board at this stage but I'd rather hold onto Hampson. Way more upside, just have to persevere a bit.

So I keep hearing but he seems to have gone backwards to his first couple of years. I'm unsure if it's because of injury or confidence but it's a big risk to take IMHO. I rather keep Sammy. But alas, he will go :(

Neither. .. but if we are going to go down to 3 viable rucks than I vote to keep the durable and true ruckman in Jacobs rather than I'll ruck in the forward pocket AKA Mr Potential. .. Plus we'll get more for Hampson ;)

To be honest, i almost prefer who isn't in the side. When Jacob's is in the first, he is a more than capable ruckman. Relatively mobile and gets hitouts in the plethora. Doesn't dominate but you know he will give his 100%. Whilst Jacob's is doing this, you can see Hampson is too much of an athletic beast for the VFL. Tears it up forward and in the ruck, and you just feel as if he is too athletic, powerful and good looking to be playing in the magoos. Eventually they will switch. Jacobs will dominate in the VFL, as he is way too good for VFL level. Good example of this was last week. Was just huge in so many ways. Whilst Hammo in the magoo, despite showing some good signs every now and then, will look lost, and portray skills that just aren't quite up to it in the firsts. So yeh, it is really hard to decide
