Hi Guys well it's shaking up to be a great trade week and you really get the feeling the Tiges are going to aggressively try and improve our list.

If the reports are true and Jaeger O'mera is showing superstar potential then I'd love to see the club really go after the trade. I think our playing group and culture is developing as such where players want to stay with us (ie Dusty turning down GWS millions to stay with us) so I would back us to hold him (plus freo & west coast arent going to be bottom sides for years so we shouldn't ever lose him for nothing).

If he spends a year in our system he should be right to fit straight into hopefully a top 4 side in 2013 kind of like Selwood slotting in Geelong and making an instant impact.

What do people think of this trade and do you think GWS would look
at it:

Foley, Conners + plus our end of first round priority pick

If they didn't want our pick then maybe:

Foley, Conners & Jackson

Not sure if I'm dreaming but to become a premiership side we need more elite talent.
 
That won't beat pick 4 and a compo pick from GC which is what they are offering up.

Not much will.

Holy Cow, Batman! This O'Mera sounds incredible.
Tigers maybe in luck, and have half a chance if the players you mentioned are rated byGWS;They need senior bodies, & to offfer 3 in one hit may appeal. Lets hope so;
I'm thinking this deal will involve three clubs to get it done; Lets hope the Tigers are involved.:cool::thumbsu:
 
There is no chance of getting O'mera.

Gold Coast are offering thier 4th pick plus compo for him and Melbourne would be offering their first round compo picks for him. I don't think we can even get close to trumping Gold Coast or Melbourne.

It depends if GWS want some more established players consider how many picks they already have.

Foley gives them a genuine mid who would be a lot better for the run this year and if Conners gets his body & mind right he gives them grunt & class off the halfback line

I'm probably dreaming but I'd love for us to have a crack

You would think that Gold Coast would be interested in established players, but by most reports their preference is draft picks. If they were interested in established players I think would see other clubs offering players who are better than Foley and Conners to get O'mera.

Don't get me wrong I really rate Foley. But you have to ask yourself would a club give up thier 4h pick and compo pick to get Foley? If GWS was interested in established players then you would be getting clubs offering players that would be getting the 4th pick and compo pick if they were traded.

Well it depends, clubs in premiership contention probably aren't going to trade away key parts to their midfield for a 17yo.

So then it depends on the rest of the pack, really as far as tradeable player go St Kilda have the currency but then it has been suggested they may reload and give the premiership another crack.

Melbourne has the talent and picks so would probably be in a good trade position.

My point is our list profile is such that we trade a couple of decent players for a 17 yo.

There is only 1 way we get Omeara.
Trade Lids & maybe compo pick.

Should be considered if the club feels Lids is a chance to go to GWS at the end of next year.We will be regretting it if he does go & we dont trade this year.

If Omeara is that good along with Cotch & Dusty there is your premiership midfield hopefully multiple flags!:thumbsu:
 
how good is crouch? id at least like us to offer up our first rounder and compo pick if he is going to be that inside player we desperately need.

He would have to be a gun if the Cats are looking to trade for him with GWS.
Cats dont pick duds! Reckon we do this if we can't get Omeara.:thumbsu:

he sounds like exactly what we need, id trade our first rounder and compo for him if he is rated that highly.
 
Yeah lets trade away a couple of our very good players for an untried 17 year old who cant play for two years....

similar to trading away draft picks .....IMO
 
Dimmer will want players that can help him earn a contract extension next year and i bet this years recruiting will show this .
 
its all about the long term, pick 14 this year is not even a first round pick in a normal draft, and our compo pick will be lucky to be in the top 20 let alone 25.

I highly doubt we will be recruiting players that will help him get a new contract. He will go about his business the same as he has from day 1 with the club.

Hope he holds his nerve and sticks to the plan but i dought he will b willing to take small backward steps short term to get players like omeara this year because of his contract status .It will b interesting to see how many readymades r recruited this year .

the reason why our culture is improving is because of players like Foley

the first to training...the last to leave
the first to put his hand up to look after young nuff nuffs (we have plenty martin for 1) so they do not get let astray
the first to put his hand up when we need someone to attend a half assed function so rfc can get a few extra $
and i can go on

and we all know he can get the pill..his best years might be ahead of him

i want as much elite tallent at the club as you but we need more Foleys...not less

Foley is 27; more than 10 years older than O'Meara or Crouch.

Foley's weapon is his pace. If his injury is completely conquered, we've got Foley for 2-3 years and then it's downhill

I'e be putting him in the bid box with Morton and pick 15 and if they don't take it: we tried.
