Jake Edwards

I know he is out of favour and only showed form in the Ants backline, but he showed a glimpse or two about a thousand years ago, leading outside the 50.

Does he have the pace and the accuracy to trial him at FF or a FP in a much more flexible Carlton forward line?

The preseason cup promises to be full of much experimentation. I hope we keep him for forward depth at least.

I think somebody is going to shine out of these repressed forwards that have been written off.

If Fev goes the landscape changes significantly.

I think one of Hartlett or Edwards would be retained. Both played injury free more or less this year. Edwards, though down back, probably had the lesser year, but there would be people who watched the Ants more that could add more weight to these comments.

NOt sure which I would keep, but my gut feel says if the Fev deal is done our forward line may be named like:

FF - Betts Bradshaw Austin
HF - Yarran/Garlett Kreuzer Walker/Houlihan

I think Aussie has real potential up forwad, and if Waite, Bower, Thornton and Jammo are fit he must play. Comes down to Ausitn vs Waite up forward........hell play them both there and put Bradshaw down back. :D

We don't have to take draft picks, we can elevate rookies instead I think.

Joseph, Garlett, Ellard, Jacobs all a chance.

I agree though we will be delisting a minimum of 5 players.

Please do not count rookies as delistings folks.

Bentick is gone
Stevens retired
Fevola traded

That makes up for 3 players in to the side, including McLean

So now we need another 3 to make way for rookies or draft picks.

Fisher or Edwards or both?
Hartlett?

We can't cut all talls and not replace them. We will get found out.

Wiggins/Anderson might be at risk.

Bannister will be gone.

Given that we've picked up two extra players and we must take three picks in the draft that means we'll have to delist at least five players. I don't think Jake will survive.

That rule was changed earlier in the year.

Rookie elevations can now count towards that 3 player rule.

I think Edwards will stay. Give him a chance to be a forward target in a Fevola-less forward line and who knows what may happen.

Joey Anderson was fantastic off half back for the Ants late in the season and should be given another year. He has some awesome run and carry ability and will make a great rebounding defender

For mine:

Hartlett gone - twinged the hammy again at the end of the season with the Ants,

Wiggins - gone; top bloke; plays with everything he has, just not quite there

What about Bentley? he looked very slow and although he improved slightly over the year, I would think he would struggle even more to break into a midfield that has just had two better players added to it.

I would rather keep Fisher and Edwards because they are both reasonably young and Edwards showed some promise at either end of the ground, whereas Fisher may resurrect his career with some more space in a flexible forward line. Still has the best pack mark going around (at Carlton) and IMO you need a good pack marker for when you need to just bomb the ball to the top of the square...not an ideal inside 50 move...but there are always games where it becomes a necessary approach to goal.

I think most other forwards have always been reluctant to get into Fev's space...he loves to spray those who crowd him.

Bentley is a rookie.
