I've seen a lot of Stringer post-leg break and know how good he can be, but had he not broken his leg and continued with his pre-injury form, how do you think he'd compare with the other top draftees in the same age group?- (Whitfield, Daniher, Toumpas, O'Meara, Crouch, Menzel)

Probably second behind Daniher, 50/50 on Whitfield and Stringer.

Um.... yeah, nah.

Stringer >>> all

Was dominating 18 year olds while two years bottom aged.

O'Meara did the same thing except it was seniors and not colts.

The time between the draft and these players actually proving themselves is the worst part. The OP question is pointless as nobody can really know.

Except that's not the question. Read it properly.

Stringer would have definitely gone top three ,very doubtful of his impact at afl level post broken leg I have grave concerns for bulldogs first pick my questions are his endurance, agility, his size never big enough to play key

His endurance will obviously take a while to build up, but we'll have to wait and see if it hinders him for his whole career. I'm positive at the moment though. No reason he can't built it up.
Agility, not worried about it really. Was moving pretty well in the VFL at the back end of the year. Can't see it being a huge issue for him.
His size wont be an issue at all though. If anything, it's going to be a huge advantage for him. He'll play primarily as a forward the first few years, but he'll have Jones and Cordy down there taking the big key backs, so he'll play as a key forward, but in the 3rd tall sort of role. With his strength and bulk, that's a big tick for him.

Except that's not the question. Read it properly.

The question, paraphrased, is actually more of a statement/request.

Tell us that, if he gets back to fully fit, the bullies got a steal/one of the best players around.

When the reality is that all draft picks are discounted for risks, and the question of if he could get back to full fitness is why he didn't go as high as he once might have. Sure, he might be that good again, but the recruiters who have looked at this a lot closer than you or I, and get actual medical advise, did their risk assesment and decided he wasn't worth taking any higher.

Oh, absolutely...Some will work, some wont...and usually it has less to do with talent than how complete the recovery can be and/or if the players attitude can be adjusted. Garlett anyone?

I would say he has the ability to be a better version of martin. Will all depend on how he recover from that leg

I don't really see the Martin comparison at all besides both having the ability to play forward and midfield.

His broken leg elevated his position within the draft .
If had of not broken his leg and played like he did in 2012 I strongly doubt any club would have taken him .
He was not in the best 50 18's year olds in the country in 2012 , being very developed at a early age also indicates less improvement due to physical development .
He has shit loads of work to do to even maintain his standing amongst those his same year fair less jump in front of 40-50 of them and to be in the top 10 of the 2012 crop .

That's just not true. His championships werent great. But he did get some impressive numbers in the tac cup and vfl near the end of the year.

And don't forget his 9.7 performance in his first game back

I doubt he wouldn't of been taken at all. If fit he would be fighting for pick one or two.

His championships were dreadful. Any other "no name plodder" would have been canned. His 9.7 performance was against, as one recruiter put it "the most uncompetitive teams he had seen at tac level.
Two performances stand out - against athletic defenders (Clurey Bushrangers, McIntosh WA Nationals) he was torn a new one.
