Only argument I have on Boyd is by being crucial to us winning a flag- and he was- the risk has paid off.

To be fair to Jake he does have more players around him that take votes off him, than if he was at St Kilda.

Not the sort of player to get the umpires attention anyway. Can be very quiet for a large period of the game then kick 4 in the space of 5 minutes. Very much a confidence/momentum type player.

Scary thing is he had a very poor year by his/everyones standards and still managed to kick 40 odd goals for the year.

Whilst not starring in the finals (maybe in the Hawks final he did) he still bobbed up and kicked some important goals and did a lot of team things like smothers, etc that went largely unnoticed.

I would imagine the coaching staff would have his returning to form at the top of their priorities over the summer. Adding Crameri and Cloke will assist him as well.

Fair call in the bold, if he kicks 3 or 4 in a short amount of time and is quiet for the rest of the game, statistically he's done well but from an umpire's view his entire game clearly wasn't consistent and unlikely to attract votes, whereas Membrey is the type to kick a goal or two each quarter so will be consistently noticed throughout the game.
