I have heard this Kid is very Highly Rated and Easily a top 10 Pick,

Read he Kicked 10 in Tac Cup this Weekend

Yep, dominated a lackluster Knights defense. Sometimes looked out of position when the ball was sent long inside 50 but still managed to take marks, sometimes against 2 defenders. He is unfit, but that's to be expected. Will dominate defenders if allowed to stay forward throughout the year, however as he gets fitter, I would expect him to move into the midfield.
Either way, it's good to see him back of your a Bendigo supporter....

It is amazing what can happen in 2 months.
I saw Stringer ‘training’ before the season started and was horrified. A friend of mind noted that he was still limping from his leg injury and that he was moving like an old man, not an 18 year old kid. He appeared very down and was frustrated by the slow response his body was showing, as my friend noted.
Two months later and he put Northern to the sword himself, having 17 scoring shots for the day (10 goals 7 behinds) in his first game for the Pios in nearly 2 years. He played deep forward for the most part and often had 2 or 3 opponents to no avail: he was simply too good in the air.
He is lacking in fitness still, he isn’t moving anywhere near as well as he did. However, this is not unexpected. Over time his fitness should return of he can physically do the work.
He played overseas for the AIS and made people take notice. He was the favourite for the MVP last I’d heard.
I wrote not long ago that I expected Stringer to drop in the draft rankings. Now that comment is looking stupid. If anything, his profile is on the rise. If he can hold it together physically, he will be a top 5 draft choice. I can’t imagine him going lower than pick #3, and that only if the first 2 recruiting departments have been smoking illegal substances.

He is eligible for the main draft so cannot be eligible for the mini draft.

Maybe you´re thinking of last year when he was eligible for the GWS mini draft.

I think you were right when you said he was going to drop down the pecking order, the only thing he has got at the moment over other tac players is his strength whether he ever gets his athleticism back i am not so sure ,it was a terrible break. He was an early maturer he hasnt got the up side of many others who are still growing and filling out.

We havent seen his upside yet, has missed 12+ months of footy but is still better than most in the draft. I would imagine that Bendigo will manage his workload this year up to the draft, expect him to play no more than 75 to 80% of this years TAC Cup matches, plus NAB U18 Champs. That alone will be a highlights reel.
I hope he gets time in the midfield once his aerobic fitness comes back, thats where he'll be the most damaging....easily top 10 pick....

It will be a brave or desperate club that takes him in first round, but I think he will definately get drafted

I would have to disagree.

If he gets back to where he was physically before the injury, his upside is probably greater than nearly anyone else in the draft. The way I look at it is, he isn't currently ready for the midfield but instead he has managed to become arguably the best 'key forward' Victoria has to offer this year. That says a lot about him.

All depends on how he pulls up in the second half of the season.

Ihave only seen him against MB at shepparton, he was well beaten by clurey when he was forward who has also just returned from injury, he did his damage on ball with one hell of a fend I think he palmed off most of mb team. saw him before he broke his leg what an athlete ! seeing him with restricted movement worries me that he will never get back to his athletic best

His best work will be in the midfield, when his boy allows. Did'nt play on the weekend due to soreness (body, not the leg), spoke to the playing group at the breaks.....
The athletic Stringer will be back, he's basically at pre season stage at the moment and still has an impact when required. He will have to be managed though, he has a huge desire to play week in, week out but for obvious reasons he cannot....

Fair to say he was disappointing that game , however I think you might be under selling Clurey, who might be a very good chance of being All Australian himself, and despite coming back from injury, is an elite athlete.

No underselling, whether he's AA doesn't really matter will go first round. He is like a few Murray kids who don't get much of a run on here.
PS He torched Stringer one on one. Hopefully Jake can come back 100%.

This kid is a rolls Royce don't Be fooled by the way he is going just spoke to a recruiting manger and he said therem are 2guys playing tac that can monster you -stringer and Calvert at the stingrays both are being put in the must have box

Saw him play on Saturday against the Power and on that form ,it would be a gamble for a club to pick him up.Looked slow and unfit albiet probably the strongest guy on the field.Hopefully he regains full fitness again because i remember seeing him play state level basketball when my own son was playing ,phenomenol athlete when fit ,but looking at him Saturday ,if he didn't have the past reputation he has i wouldn't think a club would give him a second look ,did not look like a TAC cup player at all.

On his present form and fitness, I'd have to agree. He's obviously running around at half rat power. I'd be very interested to see how he goes at the draft camp.
Honestly, I think it will be a couple of years yet until he starts showing what he did before on a regular basis. That will lower him down the list smewhat, but I don't reckon he'll fall too far. Most recruiters have LONG memories.

Watched Stringer yesterday against Sandringham, for 10 minutes in the last quarter he turned back the clock 18 months. Three centre clearances, one in particular would have had the recruiters salivating, 3 inside 50's, monstered a couple of Dragons in the forward pocket, he is one strong boy. One thing really impressed me, he ran away from 2 dragons players at one stage (one being Kenny Ong) bouncing the ball and accellerated away for a stoppage clearance.
Signs are good, still unfit though. Spoke to him after the game, no soreness with the leg at all.

Even though I can't see it happening with the likes of Stringer and also Menzel who are very talented but coming off bad injuries they could still be floating around the lions first pick. Just good to see the young fella enjoying his footy and making an impact.

We've obviously got a few early picks to come this year (though hopefully we can snatch some more wins), so I guess it's draft mode again for us fans.

On Stringer:

Can he run through the midfield, or is he more of a Darling type?

Unless his form improves, I take it he'll be around at Pick 13?

He's primarily a tall midfielder and a clearance machine, or at least used to be. One that could drift forward every now and then to take a grab or kick a goal. Since breaking his leg though, he's lacked the fitness to really get into the midfield for long stints of time and has to sit forward. And in this position, he's still rated as a KF. Tells you a lot about his talent.

It's just a fitness issue. Didn't his leg break only earlier in the year? He has had pretty much no time to get back to fitness before the Carnival started, and in all likelihood, won't get back to full fitness this year at all. With a solid pre-season into him, he'll be right to be run around in 2013.

What he's putting out right now is not indicative of what he will produce when he's fit. Despite the current form, I would have him as a top 5 candidate. Very, very hard to see him going past 10. Especially if he is already showing glimpses of what he can do with his short stints in the midfield and he's saying that his leg is giving him no problems.

If anyone got him post pick 10, you'd be incredibly excited about that. Would be the steal of the draft IMO.

That would be early last year.
