Currently 13th in the AFLCA votes. The lone tall defender amongst a sea of mids and forwards in the top 20.

Reckon he’s already re-signed it’s just not been announced.

Timing has worked out well for us as well.

We either keep our gun CHB or get well compensated with what is looking like another top 5 pick.

You reckon someone will pay enough to trigger band 1 compo?

Zac Williams got it and his deal was reportedly 6 x $800k. Joe Daniher reportedly 3 x $750k. Scott Lycett was the last band 2 player in 2018.

I would've thought he's worth somewhere $500-750k a year but if Zac Williams can get 6 x $800k then count the chickens now.

Moore got $5m over 6 at Collingwood. To get him out of Hawthorn you would have to be looking at something similar maybe with 1 less year

Very happy to see him stay but a 5 year deal could really hurt us. Hopefully his 5th year is very heavily skewed to match payments not base pay.

Be amazed if he isnt our captain next year. Is a completely different player mentally this year. The year off with his knee seems to have had him grow a lot. He now gets 50m penalties rather than gives them away.

A Five Year dear gives you extra cap space flexibility (especially if it's front or back loaded), you guys have plenty of cap space I imagine and going hard in the next couple of trade and F/A periods.

In no way shape or form is this a bad deal for Hawthorn (Dogs apparently had a massive crack)

Most 5 plus years are structured that way. (Jack Martin's at Carlton for example was heavily front loaded for the first two years, hence we had the space to bring in Hewett and Cerra last year)

The Collingwood route is not one you want to go down though, that's a bad bad piece of business.

You'd think with where the Hawks are, they would have front loaded his contract whilst you have a major refresh of your list with kids. There aren't a heap of players crying out for big dollars right now, so would make sense to front end it and leave cap space available for when your current draftees are 22-23 and players like Mitch Lewis are in their prime.
