What are your fondest memories from your playing days?
My first AFL game still sticks in my mind. It was against Essendon back in 1986. In my first year (1986) the Club made the Finals, and we only just missed out in 1987 and 1989. Then we ended up losing a lot of good players because of the lack of finances at Fitzroy. We ended up giving away great players because we weren’t able to keep them ourselves. By 1991 and 1992, it got really hard. But it was great to playing alongside some really fantastic players like Paul Roos, Gary Pert, Matt Rendell and Leon Harris.
What are your thoughts on the modern game?
I actually helped Ross Lyon out a bit during 2009 including the Grand Final - I was doing some running for him.

Fitzroy moved to the Western Oval to share with Footscray in 1994. The AFL introduced a final eight and Paul Roos reached 250 games. Coach Robert Shaw signed with Adelaide at the end of the season. Paul Roos, Matthew Armstrong and Ross Lyon joined other clubs and other senior players Jim Wynd and Brett Stephens also left Fitzroy.
Darren Wheildon ($85,000 price tag), Jim Wynd (fourth in Fitzroy's best and fairest), Anthony Banik (number one draft choice in the second or third year of the draft), Darren Forsmann, Spiro Malakellis, Brett Sholl, Glen Kilpatrick, and Anthony Darcy were among the players ignored.

The man with the ball is in-form Lion, Jim Wynd. Wynd is one of the select band of Fitzroy players to be part of a Fitzroy modern-day (almost) premiership side. He was a member of Fitzroy's winning 1982 Under-19's grand final team. Wynd, 24, is having his best season. His favorite sport apart from Australian football is Gaelic football - "I play it the correct way," he says. He also likes snow skiing at St. Anton, in Austria.
