Played very well in the 2's for the first 3 weeks but fell away after that & with the growth of our youngsters in the seniors it is very hard to see him playing many games this year.

Could be a delist at season's end if he does not sharpen up his skills & rip it up in the 2's, even then given his age I am not sure he can break into our team without some serious injuries.

I like him though & if they are happy to play Quinn surely this guy could get a game some time.

I think he could potentially come in for Dempsey if he is out this week with that ankle. He is very quick off of the mark and looked likely in the games he played last year. Not sure that the match committee would risk playing him against Geelong?

Delist him on his first full year before round 10... some genii around here. Hurley's only played 1, delist?

catsdude - he's not right at the top of our list but he'll probably play this week seeing as we're going to miss 1 and possibly 2 similar-sized quick blokes off the half-back flank. I think he's got a bit & will go alright next week

We'll see what Essendon supporters are saying about him at the end of the year then ;)

Oh, and i don't know why you're comparing him with Hurley, completely different circumstances.
Different circumstances?
Both in their first full years on the list
Both inexperienced at the top level

It's a personal gripe of mine when people make such stupid premature calls for "delist X"... reeks of being a keyboard warrior.
Don't shy away from your prediction, it will be brought up at year's end, if not by me one of the more regular contributors.

Atkinson will not be delisted without getting his chance
He's clearly there as cover for Myers/Dempsey, possibly Slatts. I'm fully aware he might spud it up completely over the next 2 or 3 weeks, not turn it around and get cut. The end of the year is 12 weeks away. I just don't take such courageous joy in predicting the demise of a hopeful kid.

Completely different.

Atkinson is 24 and was before the start of the season.

Hurley is 18.

Atkinson needs to make his impact now and the fact remains, he's not getting a game when we have a stack of injuries. Mature age rookies don't have the benefit of taking a wait and see approach. Remember Paul Thomas?

We need to delist three at the end of the year as a minimum and those not getting a game now are in the gun. That's Atkinson, that's Nash and that's Williams. It's not hard to put two and two together and it's warranted.

The only players who haven't been injured are the guys he'd cover for. Dempsey, Slattery specifically.
He won't be cut without having a run this year IMHO.

Myers was battling and he couldn't get a game.

We've seen Nash and he was behind him.

McPhee has missed, he didn't get a game.

He might get a run this year, but it's unlikely we'd have a 25 year old on our list next year with question marks on his ability.

That's actually the most worrying point
Yeah, you might be right
Still dislike the "will be delisted" stuff. It's May ffs.

Totally agree here Longy, those three will be in the gun I would think, we have Slatts as a defender, with Klemke being a possibility of being a reasonable back up small, we also have plenty of HBF types that have been playing ahead of the much maligned Nash, and Williams to be brutally honest has not shown that much at either AFL or VFL level, and I have seen a little bit of the Bedigo boys this year.

i always thought he had potential.

but people here are right. if he can't get a game now, i don't see how he ever will.

It's easy to say now that he'll be gone at the end of the year and that there is no spot for him, but he must be given a chance at some point this season to prove whether he is good enough.

Why?

He's 24, we've had a lot of injuries and he couldn't get a game.

We need to delist at least three.

I'd say it is easy to say he'll be gone at the end of the year.

He doesn't have to be GIVEN a chance, he has to EARN a chance and his form hasn't demanded one.

Where's this fella at? Really like the look of him. Is he injured? If not, why isn't he in your side?
He is loads better than Slattery, his first game was amazing!
