He is homesick i was his Myspace friend but not anymore doesnt want randoms
and he said he loves the club but is missing home and he hates the city.
And in his profile his like i come from WA the best State in the world but im in Melbourne atm playing for Collingwood so he really loves home but he likes Collingwood :S
i recon his had a hard time settling in and he wasn't getting much love at Training getting knocked around and no help from team mates. I felt sorry for him because he is a great player.
but i recon these rumors are true.:thumbsd:

Even if true, he's just a kid still so it's to be expected that he'd be homesick. It's about how he's supported through this period that's important. As he gets older he'll find his feet.

just joined and first time i posted on this site.

i'm his dad and i want to knock all the rumor on the head right now.

Facts

Drafted on the Saturday and living in Melbourne Sunday night. For a 17 year old coming from sleepy W.A. ( wait awhile !! ) Melbourne was an Instant culture shock. Put yourself in his shoes and think about how you would handle it. We are very proud of the way he has.

He loves Collingwood and as he told me he thinks he has gone to the equivalent of Manchester United or the AC Milan of Australian clubs. He loves all the players and coach's and is a very loyal player. he will be at Collingwood for a very, very long time.

He misses his girlfriend and family life but we see him about once a Month ( he comes from a very close family and someone is there regularly from perth to see him )

He got a kick in the leg and came up a bit sore after the 2nd last practice match. had a tummy wogg for the last practice game and doctors would not let him play last 2 games until he was 100%( At least collingwood look after there investments and dont rush them when there is no need to unlike someone who went back on too early for richmond and did himself out of a month or so of footy) he will most likely play this week.

He is not and has not been in any trouble ever !!!

He is not a private school boy. Went to Governor Stirling senior High School to be in their AFL academy. ( captained the team )

He is one of the 5 Midvale Junior football Club players to be drafted this year ( through Swan Districts ) but did not live in the same street as Walters yarren and Naitanui
Jarrad - Collingwood
Nicholas Naitanui - West Coast
Michael Walters - Fremantle
Chris Yarran - Carlton
Jeff Garlett - Carlton
plus last year David Ellard - Carlton
and Todd Banfield is from his GOVO team.

A great mob i think you would agree.

Eddie McGuire organized for John Bertrand to be his mentor and he is absolutely thrilled with it and enjoying every moment. As a 2 time Under 21 NATIONAL sailing champion and twice State champion, a bloke could not ask for a better person to talk and learn yachtie things with. It is also a great way to break the pressure of full time AFL.

thats it.

Hope that clears things up for everyone.

Welcome aboard Stuart. As I said in my post, doesn't surprise me in the slightest that any kid coming from interstate would be homesick - big adjustment. Glad to hear that despite this, he's happy with the club.

Word of warning for you now that you've outed yourself. Don't get sucked in - a lot of posters will not try to bait you. The more you defend Jarrad, the more some will test your patience. Look to Jack Anthony's dad (JAJH) as a point in case. Forewarned is forearmed.

Great to hear Stuart! Good to hear some of these rumours cleared up :thumbsu:

Really look forward to seeing him play later on this year perhaps.

Welcome aboard Stuey!!

Great news. Particularly for a kid so talented rated very highly.

Good luck to his future with the Pies. :thumbsu:

Great news.

Could this thread be closed now?

couldn't hurt! welcome stu, give our best to the boy as we all hope he has a great career in the B&W obviously, anyone on this site would be willing to adopt him as a mate i am sure ;)

hopefully myself or others didn't offend with earlier comments stating we were worried that blighty was the player mentioned in MX getting in trouble with the law, was just a matter circumstance putting your boy in our minds seeing as the club wasn't too forward with his whereabouts the last couple of weeks (not on injury list, etc), and we tend to be a panicky bunch with a few collingwood players having some incidents in the past! collingwood sells papers and all that!

all the best mate

Thanks for the reply Stuart, fantastic to have your insight here on the board. I can assure you that the majority of Pies fans here are genuinely excited to have Jarrad playing for us, so we're rapt to hear any news regarding his progress. As far as this thread goes, I'm going to lock it to prevent further speculation about the alleged incident that fortunately did not involve your son. I'm sure we'd all be very glad to hear from you in future, however. :thumbsu:
