I looked and it hadnt been made already.

  • 4 goals straight - one in each quarter.
  • Was hard at it, 6 tackles from a key forward is bloody good
  • was still hard at it even when tackles went unrewarded by the umpires
  • made a contest of everything he was near
  • took some great marks
  • delivered in a final
  • wasnt injured
  • wasnt reported (and hopefully wont be)
well done lad.

Totally agree, I had such love for him yesterday. Was inspirational and would have done Vinnie so proud.

Despite being a bit scatty, you have to wonder what might have been had he not been so plagued with injuries over his career.

He's freakishly talented, runs with a smooth gait of a swan (EDIT: okay that probably doesnt make sense) (or at least used to, dont get as much a chance to see it with him forward so much) and floats effortlessly for marks.

Could have been rated so much higher than he is, but as it is, he'll go down as a great servant of our football club. Always been one of my favourite players.

I've been pretty negative about Waite at times over his career, but he really shut me up yesterday. Shame he didn't get rewarded for that tackle on Rance at the very least. It was great to see him play aggressively but still be disciplined, and to make his point on the scoreboard.

He played an excellent game yesterday.

Hasn't played too many finals (1 I think, 2009)
Don't think he was going to pass this opportunity up.

You know he's on when he's flying for marks and doesn't want to give away 50s.

We need good jarred again this week

The great frustration with Waite is he's always shown this potential.

I think he's so talented that when he's hot, he can singlehandedly tear a final apart. Opposition is almost irrelevant - when he goes big, there's nothing you can do about it. He catches everything, kicks everything and runs away from anyone trying to stop him.

Always wanted to see Waite on the big stage in a final, because I think he's the kind of guy that CAN deliver, just like he did at the weekend.

Too right, he's just one of those players. His performances are usually pretty dependant on himself rather than who he's opposed to... if the straight kicking, high marking Waite turns up - look out.

He can literally do anything on his day.

His aggression, determination and smarts in the forward line was highly impressive. Finally we have Waite, Jamison, Kreuzer & Gibbs all playing together in a final. Albeit Kreuzer is on four cylinders.

I think Vin Waite may have inhabited his body for an hour or so. He certainly went after a few of them.

Don't forget the all important goal assist to Judd.

And the great thing about that one was that he'd put in a big contest before that stoppage when he missed the mark. Didn't get the free he was after and rather than let that affect him in the next passage of play, went and hunted down the ball, beat both Vickery (or Maric) and Jackson and set up Judd's goal.

This is what everyone at the club has been hoping to see for many years.

Long may it continue!

We always said we need him fit. Sadly that appears an unrealistic goal. Need a replacement for him ASAP, because i fear the end could come really quick for Waite. How great is it having Waite and Henderson fit, in the side and able to swap rules as needed? We look a million times better with those options. This is why I'd absolutely love finding a Hurley or similar.

Waite saddens me when he plays well because it makes me think of what could have been had he not had a body made of glass and a short fuse. He's brilliant, so talented and one of our fiercest competitors. Probably one of our few players who opposition players hate lining up on for fear of getting their bodies broken by a stray knee.

My good mate (Port supporter) absolutely hates Waite. He gets frustrated at how he can never stay on the park through injury or just doing stupid things to get himself suspended. I got a text during the Tigers match that said "THIS is why I hate Waite. If he wasn't such an idiot, he would be a superstar". I see where he is coming from!

This week, he stood up and performed brilliantly. Probably hasnt got the kudos in the media that he deserves. Absolutely brilliant game. If he can play 80% of the season next year at full fitness, that is a massive boon for the club's chances at climbing the ladder.
