Was just wondering what Carlton fans perspective of Waite was. Forward line or Back Line, has shown moments of greatness either end of the ground. Also superstar in the making or just a solid performer?

should be playing forward, but we need him in the backline i think.

but depends on what structure we go for next year!!

i still would like him as a wingman then pinch hitting in forward line when he gets a good match up for him.........he is tall, athletic and has the ability to take on other players successfully.

Like Hunter in my opinion but I think he can be much, much better!

I agree with that comparison, but Waite just needs to close that gap between his best and worst games. He has all the tools to be a very good player, he just needs to be switched on every game. It is the mental aspect that is stopping him taking the next step.

We really need him firing on all cylinders to move the club forward:thumbsu::)

Waite can be very damaging anywhere. He makes a very dangerous mobile forward, he can play the angles beautifully in defence, can be unstoppable one-on-one (as he showed against Reiwoldt early this year), and provides solid running link work in the middle. Like someone said - a bit like Hunter - not as suicidal but with more mongrel. In years gone by he'd be called a utility.

It all depends on whether he's switched on. His concentration seems to be getting better as he gets older. 2007 was definitely his best year. Still has plenty of work to do though.

Waite played great after returning. He is already underated, however no doubt he will step up again after the difficulties of the last five years. With better delivery, structure and confidence the team will rise making his job easier and his greatness more obvious.

Up forward but do love him galloping through the midfield breaking lines from back line to forward line.He usually lets himself down when he gets there but gee it looks good
long days and happy nigths

He can be a star on his day, he's just inconsistent. He needs to really focus and knuckle down this year - should be putting in 110% with all the talent that he's got.

Ideally for 2008:

Trade Fisher and pick 3 for Judd (related to everything, it seems).

Start 2007 with a forward line of:

F: Betts, Fevola, ______
HF: Waite, Kennedy, Houlihan/Russel/Edwards

The other forward pocket filled by possibly a resting ruckman, mid or one of the HFFs.

So basically, get rid of Fisher and have Waite play that lead up HFF role. Having Judd and Stevens back in the midfield, and with that forward line - finals do not look unlikely in 2008. Waite can go down back if needed, but preferably spend most of his time up forward.

Don't mind it at all. Wouldn't like to see Fish go but it's actually not a bad forward line. It might suit big Kreuzer to start his games forward anyway.

I think his best position is a HFF pushing back to the wing to link up and run the lines back into the forward line.

The only time he needs to go back into defence is if we really need someone to cover.

ive seen more than my fair share of carlton games over the last few years and to be honest i think he should be developed into a backman. (Fisher/Fev forward line combination would be enough if they could have the ball delivered better) He did show moments of brilliance in the forward line but was too inconsistant i prefered him in the backline he started to show he had some mongrel in him which is good to see he has heart.

would you rather lucas stopping fevola kicking 5 goals, or him going forward and kicking 5 himself.

lucas has proved himself up forward were as waite is still yet to determine his position... brad fisher 2nd in the comp for contested marks seems more logical
