Is he ready to resume training?
What's the deal with injury / fitness?
Will he play in 2017?
Summner had a fractired navicular and got surgery and screws put in it to fix the bone.Pickett has ligament damage around the forefoot and also had to have screws put in it last april.Unfortunately ligaments take longer than bone, any of you will know this with a knee strain etc..Welcome and go well young man.
Sumner's foot was apparently buggered and I liked the look of him with no pre season. Let's hope Pickett has the same luck and has healed up well.
Realise the difference in injuries, just hope it goes the same way as Sumner. Not expecting much next year other than positive signs when he's ready, certainly no rush, it's a long term investment.Summner had a fractired navicular and got surgery and screws put in it to fix the bone.Pickett has ligament damage around the forefoot and also had to have screws put in it last april.Unfortunately ligaments take longer than bone, any of you will know this with a knee strain etc..
Pickett might have a very limited preseason, with upper body work only and wont do training drills or matches....he can swim, cycle and build legs with weights though..should see him in the Vfl early/mid rounds and a possible debut in Afl late season...
He was dradted at no.4 for a reason,he is a very very good footballer with the potential Carlton will find out and develope. When our forwards mature and our mids are strengthened we can and possibly will go into finals a few years from now with players like this.
It's something we have lacked and really missed.. if Pickett can get the fitness up we could potentially have a new Yaz in a couple of years.Watching Pickett's highlights reminded me of just how good Yarran was when he had his mind on the job.
If only.....
