Jarrod Witts

I think the other thing we have to consider is that if Jolly retires in 2013, we are in a poor bargaining position when it comes to trading for a ruck, if we find Cegs and Witts aren't ready. Everyone will know we will be desperate and we'll end up paying overs for a hack ruck (like we did for Wood!)

One other fear I have is finding out Witts/Ceg are the next Guy Richards/Chris Bryan tandem!!

i think in 2014 having lynch and gault/ceglar/witts as the 2nd ruck will be good enough (assuming jolly retires) that we wont be too desperate to recruit another ruck. I think one of the 3 should become good by 2014 after 2 more preseason and a whole season of footy next year.

Really hope you are right. Would love to be proven wrong.
I still have bad memories of the way Guy Richards was patiently developed as a project player etc etc. He just never blossomed. but you are right, we only need one of Ceg or Witts to develop.

Hey everyone, long time lurker/first time poster here.

Most of the comments in this thread are in regards to Witts playing as a ruck in the firsts, which I agree he simply isn't ready for come 2013. However, I personally think that (form permitting) he should get a game or two in late-2013, but only as a forward - absolutely no rucking. This way he can get a taste of senior action and get his attacking game to the next level, without risking his knees/ankles/etc in the ruck. I'm assuming that ruck duties take more of a toll on the joints than being a stay-at-home forward for a game, but what are your thoughts?

i think he'll play more than 1-2, most people including hine and walsh were thinking of playing him for 1-2 late this year, and with another preseason he should be able to play 6-7 next year i reckon
