Speculation Jed Walter

Playing further out from goal this game but he goes hard for the ball and you can just see the power of the boy
once he has 70 games under his belt he will be beast of a player to match up.

As mentioned above top 10 pick is not out of the question for this lad at $1mil a year could be a great get and very much a Charlie Curnow type and is averaging more goals a game than Charlie at the same age.
Kid will be ready to explode in 1-2 years
He's a freak athlete thats for sure. Bit dopey from my observations but that can be developed in time.

Blues would be mental not to be throwing an offer at him. Got 0 back up once McKay is gone. Kemp does alright on occasion but is much closer to a 3rd tall than a proper lead out KPF.

What do you suggest the blues trade for him with your 1st 2 picks looking like being swallowed up by the Cody Walker bid and no 2nd or 3rd rounders. only 2027 picks available which really will be diluted

I'm assuming there's going to be quite a few names moved on from the Blues after the season we're having. Would have to make an offer using what we can get from them most likely.

Otherwise our 2027 picks as you mentioned.

I'd offer 2027 R1 + 2028 R2 > GC > Jed Walter + 2027 R3 + 2028 R4.

Long term Jack Darling replacement.

It makes too much sense, so can't happen.

We currently hold North’s and Gold Coast’s second-round picks, along with Brisbane’s third-round pick.

I was going off this

must be wrong as you are usually correct

Thats a fair bit to offer when Trembath is younger, almost an identical type player and has outperformed him signficantly in the early parts of his career.

I think Walter will head to West Coast.

I'd offer more. Future Picks.

Genuinely curious as to why you think North would do that?

Plenty of tall options at Arden Street
A) he'd be handy at KPF #3.
B) this is likely to be Darlings last year
C) he's actually gettable I reckon
D) we have options in Trembath/Goad, just feel as someone who can play Fwd, Back and Ruck he's pretty good.

I'd probably take him instead of worrying about the draft too much for 2027 and beyond.

Fair points. Interesting to see how aggressive North can get.

My view - Offer this years 1st and next years first for Jacob Weitering.

That’s interesting, I would 100% as well he is 28 though, Carlton approaching a mini rebuild would have to consider it as well. 2 first round picks.

Could we not offer 2027 R1, 2028 R1 with 2nds coming back? He is 28, 29 before the start of next year - not as if he's 22.

Hes got 5 years in him at least. He is currently contracted until 2031.

They would look at it for sure.

Makes our backline decent overnight. Weitering, Chom as the keys with Logue in his preferred spot as the third.

They wouldnt offer anything back i wouldnt have thought.

He's a top 5 KPD in the comp.
He's out of contract.

Maybe if he maintains current form we'd have to add in our 2nds with nothing coming back.... who knows? We can up our offer if it's rejected.

A want, not a need.

This guy makes Harry McKay look like a defensive pressure god

Strong Do.Not.Want

A big part of Gold Coasts form decline has been this guy walking around the forward line providing less than zero pressure. Id rather stick with Jack Williams myself. Atleast he has heart

Would be a huge get to get Weitering but he ain't leaving Carlton, i don't want to derail the Walter thread but a mate of mine is friends with him and he bleeds Carlton and loves the club, we would have to entice Carlton to part with him not turn Weitering's head.

Weird they want to incorporate JUH into that forward line if they already lack pressure from Walter because that's his greatest weakness.

Might be a case of them only being able to fit one in the side. If they can get JUH to turn things around then Walter is surplus to needs and can be cashed in. If JUH goes off the rails again, keep Walter

Fair enough.

Back to Walter.

Does he get dropped this week? has laid 2 tackles in four games.

They just dont have any small forwards worth a damn so may as well play 4 tall forwards seems to be the plan.

What they actually need to do is bite the bullet and have Rioli/Petracca up forward at the expense of a tall even if its not ideal . They also need to realise Holman while a lower talent for them creates the structure they need.

The forward line they should have is

CHF: Lombard, JUH, Petracca
FF: Holman, King, Read

I think JUH has a better ability to be a lead up forward since he can actually lead and doesnt move 15 metres and want to wrestle because its hard running 50+m on a lead to get the ball. After seeing him this year its clear to me Jeds nowhere even close to AFL standard. The only reason people think otherwise is the draft pick number he was taken with, not the reality of his output
