Depending on his price, you'd definitely have a look, but my guess is that unless we lose 5 off our list we won't be going in the PSD.
 
as hbk said we proply wont have a pick in the psd. unless we delist atleast 3 other players with hyde and tiv

Don't think it will happen. Don't really see the point of getting White. Sure we need another good ruckman, but we'd be better off developing one via the draft and continuing trying to get Patto and Graham to the next level than topping up with a player very much in the twilight of his career.

The thing is your going to be offering names of 20-22yo's, with plenty of potential and growth to hopefully come, Jeff White is 31yo and while he would offer amazing depth for the ruck position it would be stunting the growth of a Patto or Graham in trying to become the next No.1 ruckman for this club, all for a guy who will play at the most another 2 years.

Since when did Marsh ave 18 hitouts and 17 disposals??

We may not even need to use him at all but IMO he's still a better proposition in the ruck than Pattison or Graham at this point, both of whom have major question marks.
We still take another couple of developing rucks late in the draft and through the rookie list. This just help with their development. White's experience could also benefit our youngsters for a year or two.
 
seeing that we missed seaby, i would be very suprised if we didnt take white.

white would provide a very inexpensive back up for simmons

if simmons goes down in 09, forget finals. I dont think we can take that risk.

We have delisted hyde and tivs

I expect polak to be special rookied, cass and pettifer or meyer to go

with the addition of thomson, that means three picks in ND and white in PSD, if he stays fit and strong till december.
 
Oh my god. So the majority believed Seaby wasnt good enough so now you're going after the more able Jeff White. Hahahaha, hes clearly past his use by date. Even the Patto man is better than White.

The player that will be taking a young players spot on the list is Pettifer...

White would be cheaper then signing a young player on a 2 year deal. What you would get is a first class ruckman on a 1 year deal with an option for a second. He is still relatively young and has a strong motor that would get him to ruck contests.

He would be invaluable for our young rucks... his experience as one of the best Ruckman in the game in the last 10 years and his know how would be priceless.... he would lift the bar.
 
If we do get White, it'll be just like when we got Kingsley. I don't mean that in a bad way. Just a guy there as insurance in case Simmonds (Richo in Kingsley's case) gets injured. I wouldn't expect him to play every game.

I'm not sure it's worth it. Depends if the coaching staff have faith in Graham.

If we get Jeff White and he is fit he will be our No1 Ruck...
 
yes he would be a good addition but really you have to think about it. we get him and he plays for 1, maybe 2 years max and in the next 2 years we are not going to realistically be ready to contend for the premiership. the finals definitely but we wont be in the grand final in the next 2 years.

put 2 more years of experience into graham, patto and putt and we will be better off. we need to be thinking about the future not trying to plug a whole for 2 years. that has been our problem of the last 15 odd years.

we have started and are well and truly into the building of a quality list why change the process, stick to developing these young guys into afl players and a team capable of challenging for the premiership in the near future.

Couldnt break into a woeful side this year.

The bloke was dumped by the club. I remember a bloke ripping his membership up in 1992 after the first round. Are we looking to beat that record?

Dont know why players from other sides look so fantastic all of a sudden when they become available.

Where is the 'Get Jayson Laycock' thread. Sheeesh.
 
i really dont think his body is right unfortunately - if it is, i wouldn't be opposed to the idea completely.

The thing that would upset me is that the chances are we would have to delist an extra bloke to do it, and that would most likely be meyer.

so we would basically be delisting a bloke who have a reasonable chance of still offering 5-7 years of good service for the club - for a bloke who is a reasonable chance of providing 1 - 2 years of good service.

if we had delisted Graham - i would definitely entertain the idea, as i really dont rate him. I think he is an absolute marshmallow - i will not forget when i watched him at coburg in the finals, and he let himself be outmarked on multiple occasions overhead by players that were a good half a foot shorter than him..

Angus doesn't have the personality or toughness to be a ruckman

Simmo had a knee injury for the better part of the year, no to mention White was playing in a side that didn't give him a rest, Simmo usually played alot less time than White.

White was the prefered ruck option before he got injured for Victoria

No it means Melbourne don't have any good backup ruckman, or at least a No.2 ruckman to provide good enough relief.
