Even looking at his stats for this year in what was supposedly an average year in which he was dropped, he kicked a few good mini bags and ave 1.8 goals a game. Expand that over 24 matches and thats 43 goals for the year.

5 goals in rnd 13.
4 goals in rnd 4
3 goals in rnd 8 and 10.

Then in 2019 (his best year) he had 2 other 5 goal games and 6 with 3.

Could be a great pick up and very Schultz like for 5 years.
Unfortunately, I don't think he plays with the aggression or attack on the ball that was Schultz's trademark (at least during his time with us). His strengths are his height, ability to pick the ball up off the deck and goal-kicking. His highlights show that he can mark the high ball in contests against quality opposition (e.g. Talia, McEvoy) and that he snaps very well both in free play and from tight set shot angles. Coupled with Georgiades' aggressive leading and leaping, it looks like a handy and complementary skill set. I'm not convinced that he's an upgrade on Ladhams as a forward, but if it means we can trade Ladhams and get in a top 20 selection or a ready-made player who fills our midfield needs, then it's pretty sensible list management.

In 2019, he kicked 5 goals against Richmond in round 3, then 7 goals in the first three finals (3 in the EF, then 2 in the semi and 2 in the prelim). He ended the year with a 1 disposal, 0 goal output against Richmond in the GF thrashing.

In 2021, he feasted on Collingwood and Carlton, but struggled against the two Grand Finalists.

Hopefully, he can really elevate his footy with us.

Instantly becomes our best set shot at goal amongst our tall forwards. He is very very good snapping around the corner as well.
Beautiful leg on him.

It is an interesting point to make. I never really rated him until I looked at his stats at the start of this year. He has been able to kick goals with a s**t ton of talent around him (even if it is only perceived talent). Has had to compete with Cameron, Greene, Paton, Boyd, Lobb, Mccarthy, Hogan. People can criticize him for never been top banana. But 1.5-2 goal a game top banana's are easier to find than 1.5-2 goal a game 3rd talls. Has kicked 90-45. Very much in the Bruest mould where he doesn't impose himself on games but converts when he gets his opportunity. That is exactly the player we need and don't have enough of. Dixon needs alot of the ball to kick a bag. Todd Marshall is woefully inconsistent because he both doesn't get enough of the ball and doesn't convert. Ladhams goes from kicking 50m bombs from the boundary line to nearly missing his boot and not making the distance 40m out. A forward line built around Dixon smashing anyone who comes near him and 2 lead up KPF who will take their chances in Finlayson + Georgiades + some quality crumbers is a quality forward line.

The thing I like about this is that it puts pressure on Marshall, Ladhams (if he stays), and provides support for Dixon while also strengthening our reserves team. It also provides us a backup if Lil Pisty flies the coop next year instead of this year.

Shrewd move.

Jeremy is indigenous and related to Sir Doug Nicholls. He is a very mobile, a great kick and a fair mark. He plays his best as a deep but mobile forward and has an impressive goal per game average, no doubt helped by playing alongside Lynch and Cameron in his best year, 2019. He can ruck, but at 196 cm and averaging about 1.5 hit outs per game in the last 3 years, this has been overstated by Cripps and co. He can, however, give Lycett a chop out for a few minutes a quarter. I see him doing a little bit in ruck when he plays but Dixon doing some also.

His inclusion seems to make Ladhams departure inevitable. Either Dixon plays second ruck or Finlayson does. That means on occasions we can play 5 tall forwards/rucks - Dixon, Marshall, Georgiades, Finlayson, Lycett (or Hayes), but there will be a lot of occasions we will prefer to play only 4.

That means, he will get chances to impress when we play 5 and if he takes his chances, may make the top 4.

His real value may be in replacing Dixon as the key forward target when Dixon goes into ruck. A defence that can handle an immobile monster like Dixon, may not be able to cope with a mobile target like Finlayson and vice versa.
