Watched the game last night , well done on your win.

Got to say that i as most impressed with White's game he really showed something.

I liked his controlled agro and his skills were good as well.

Worthy candidate for the Rising Star nomination I would think. :thumbsu:

Reminded me a bit of the shot at goal but Jesse was a lot further out, that another young ruckman had, Ricky Mott. Sadly Ricky missed it and somehow his career was downhill after that.

Jesse's kick sailed high and handsome for a important goal, I reckon he will kick on and form a good combo with Jolly who was awesome.

He was awesome. Ticked every box - rucking, an important goal, good defensive positioning. :thumbsu: I was going to start this thread by way of apology. :o :p

I like him, He looks like my Ex minus the height, and not blonde.

I love White's attitude it's like Hall's. Cept not as aggro.

Elated with his performance last night. We desperately need some young KPP talent coming through, and at this stage he's looking the goods. Great game from the kid.

Appropriate that I respond by saying I must apologise for the pessimism last week re the clash with Hawthorn.
But having been a fan of White's from the outset, I'm a little bit excited today.

And Orreal.

Though I see White taking the Goodes path - rucking early on until we can trade for or draft a great full-time ruck, and then move into the forward line.

Why do we need to trade for another full-time ruck? Once Currie is at fitness he should be ready to go.

White can then move down forward.

The discussion should be centred around what happens when O'Loughlin, Barry and Currie are ready to go (and Vez?). Who going in and out of the team?

I say Barry should stay on the side lines. I don't believe we need him in defence with Bolton, LRT and Richards/Grundy taking their three best together with Shaw, Malceski, Shaw, Bevan as our smalls and runners.

Our next two twin tower forwards are already in the side: White and Heath Grundy.

After ROK, these two would just about have the best hands in the team.

Don't forget Reg, he was good again last night, is getting better and better, more confident and assured in the senior team.

In the above post I had Grundy listed as a defender, although much like Ted Richards he is a utility that can go both forward and back. Over the course of time I have been one of those people that has defender Grundy. It was only his application and confidence that was holding him back. Has great hands and is a fantastic kick, especially at goal.

Agreed, and I've been kind of feeling guilty for thinking that. I was an advocate of Barry retiring last season... and he really isn't needed now except as a depth player in case Bolton, LRT or Richards goes down.

At the other end, I think Vesz MAY come back in for Meredith if he's still up there, and MOL for Moore perhaps? I'm not sure.

I reckon odds are if Meredith has been able to be consistent enough to hold his place between now and when Vez returns (min round 8, you'd expect he'd spend some time in the 2nds first), I would be surprised if Vez replaces him.

regardless of how merideth is playing Vez will definately come back through the ressies. He hasn't played a game this year and he was not a guaranteed starter when he was playing last year. Therefore he will have to earn his spot. On top of that remember who we had playing in the ressies this week, Buchanen (who is important to our team if he is in good form) and Barlow amoung other names.

i reckon meredith showed more in his debut than barlow has shown in his various chances .... he is quick, daring and quite strong for a young guy and i think he will slot in really well.

In Barlow's '07 games he looked like he'd be the next Adam Goodes and was compared accordingly... Meredith was no where close to that.

Keep in mind that he only played a couple of games in 07 (debuted very late), and it was at the end of the season whilst he would have been at peak fitness.

Much like Vez last year, although even later IIRC.

I see the pro-Vic drones on the main board have the rising star nomination as a two-horse race between Dayne Beams and David Zaharakis, and White's been dismissed because he was "only rucking against Renouf".

Renouf, a premiership ruckman (and, generally, Hawthorn as defending premier), obviously is not regarded as highly as these Victorians regard the Meblurne and Fremantle midfields.

Sighhh ... I was going to post this on the main board, that this kind of ignorance of Sydney's players (and games) is why the non-Swans fans perpetuate the various negative myths about us.
Then I thought, "why bother?"

I saw Beams, looked good, and I have him in my SC team. I didn't Dons v Freo today, but have Zaharakis in my SC team too.

Oh, and on the Meredith v Barlow debate: one thing Meredith has already over the Cheese is composure, and in fact that's one aspect of Barlow's game that is seriously lacking.

I already posted it Bateman. I honestly thought I'd open the thread and see people speculating between White and Zahrakis - granted I didn't see Beames - and was genuinely shocked no one mentioned him before I did.

I put up a comparison of his stats to Hille, and that's amazing for a 4th gamer, even if Hille was GENERALLY playing on Sandilands (and occasionally against Bradley).
