For me - Jetta has done exactly what he needed to.

Bulked up. Learnt to tackle. Learnt to mark. Kept supplying into the forward 50.

He is a champion and gives us that X factor that every team needs.

Let's move on folks, it's obvious we're not going to change each other's minds on this one.

Ok RW apologies about the seek counselling post. I assume that was the reason it was deleted. I will change tact then and say Lewis Jetta being called a champion is the most inaccurate summation of a player ever on this Board. This is not inflammatory nor does it warrant deleting.

Well said. It definitely looks like he's working on his defensive game to become a more complete player. Worth it in the long run.

Heres what frustrated me the most and its not the lazy efforts on defence

Its when he finally get it and runs then will hesitate and either go back, stop or dish off to a man in trouble, like he suddenly thinks he is being selfish or something.

His game v the tigers was one of his best for working both ways but i think he will be forever frustrating

Needs to score more goals

Since 2012 he hasn't been able to complete a full preseason and had a horrible leg injury which kept him out for almost the whole 2013.

I will judge him after another preseason is under his belt.

Lets not eat our own players he is probably a little low on confidence hence his lack of run and dare.

KJ was spot on when OTC last year when he said Jetta hurts the Team on transition ( M White last week ). Like the coaching panel I would rather have Jetta in the side than not as he has that X factor and when he is playing well the team is normally playing well and is one of them players that can change a game with limited possies.
His defensive side has always been down compared to some others but to me he is tackling more this year

I havent done a pre season but i would at least put my head over the ball or try to tackle

Maybe break into a sweat without the ball

I thought early friday he was one of the leaders on defence, how did it look at the ground

But he does he had 7 tackles on the weekend?

Full credit for friday think i gave him votes

I expect that to be the norm now, not the tackle number per say but that effort,

Frustrating is the right description for Jetta for me it is not a dislike of the lad. Has so much talent and even though he is contributing and doing a job he could be a real destructive weapon against the opposition if his work rate and intensity could go up another notch. Agree also that he needs to hit the scoreboard a bit more often and that may come from backing his penetrating right foot. For a player of his size he has a booming leg on him.

One more thing Lewis.

Stop showboating for the cameras in the post game celebrations it makes you look like a right pickle mate. Leave it to Kenny.

Firstly I don't recall Adam "dashing away from his opponent on the wing at 34 years of age". I did only see it in real time and only the once, however as I recall there was no opponent within cooee of the Champ. Don't quote me here because I could well be wrong.

He took the initiative and did what all good footballers do, take ground by foot and then deliver.

Jetts, well we all have different opinions of the speedster and I'm not gonna get into good, great, champ or anything of the kind. One thing I will say is that when he came to the Club his role was to tuck the ball under his arm and run run run then deliver either a goal or to a player in better position. He seems to have forgotten that or be given another job on the park .... no matter, he is an X factor and his game is slowly getting better after 14 rounds. hope he continues to improve and prove his worth in September.

Nicely said Punts. I do not understand the logic of seeking a homogeneous prototype player. Jetta is not Luke Parker or Josh Kennedy and for that I am grateful. He brings dynamic speed and skill to break lines. I care equally about Jetta missing a heavy tackle as much as I care about JPK being burned for speed. You cannot have everything in one player. Criticism of Jettas form vs his role is fair but some comments on here are somewhat unreasonable.

What i'm saying is that he is not using that speed anymore, he seems frightened to take them on and put the fear of god in to them, but know panics and misses targets.
I don't hate him, I just get frustrated by his now lack of speed and goals and yes 7 tackles, but did he hold them , no.
He needs a run in the ressies to get his confidence back

He is a slight build as we know and maybe he's been hurt more than he cares to be. Like we once use to say "hearing footsteps" or perceiving pressure.

Now I'm hearing a similar call ... he just isn't putting those afterburners on as soon as he gets the ball. That is the thing that separates him from other players in the League, his dash.

I use to watch him in the WAFL and out an out Champ he wa and I was stoked to see him come over to the Swans, I am still stoked he's a Swan and until he completely drops his bundle I will always want him at the Club and in our 22.
