Its seem more and more likely that the cats are going to take jetta with there first pick. Would add more pace to there mid which couldn't be a bad thing. Now what this means is that some1 will fall throught to the second round. I dont know if u would call Jetta going top 10 a smokey.

Who would be the best best to fall? My tip is Thorp, Pround, or even stella.

others?

its Sellar.

What makes you say this?
Where going to go best available no matter what position!
I doubt Jetta will be best available at 7!

his name is proud, not pround

Boak will go to Geelong at #7, mark my words!!

Doubt they will pick Boak. He does fit the bill being a quick midfielder and a local, but there will be better talent available at #7... Seller, Selwood, Thorp... even Jetta are all better players and Geelong will choose the best out of one of these. My tip is Selwood, but who knows.:thumbsu:

Boak is as good as in the Blue and White Hoops down at the Cattery. Mark my words.

I'm not saying that Boak would be my pick to go to Geelong, I have been told by a pretty reliable source that's all.

That's a bad choice with that pick... IMO. Nothing against Boak, but it seems to me Geelong is desperate to get pace into that side by any means necessary. By my reckoning, they've already got a lot of pacy players (Kelly, Wojcinski, Tenace, Burns etc) and no targets up front. They've got to cut dead wood out of that team and start drafting solid all around footballers instead of this needs approach they're taking.

How many times does it need to be said... we are not drafting for our needs!
We are taking best available! How many times does it have to be stated!
Just because someone on this board said where getting Boak doesn't actually mean where getting him!
How much sh*t has been said on BF that hasnt been true. Alot if you ask me!

Was Travis Varcoe the best available last year at the Cat's first pick? I would say no, but I understand if they thought that.

Before that you traded for Ottens which was clearly a needs based decision... So that's why people say that.

Hopefully the Cats have a completely open mind about who to take at their first pick, because there could be much better players than Boak available.

Boak is underated around here. If the Cats dont get him at 8 then he will go in the next 3 picks. No doubt about that. They could do alot worse, I dont know why the Cats fans as so against him.

Perhaps if you had paid more attention, you might have read one of the million and one articles where numerous leading figures at the GFC have come out and stated specifically that this year they are looking at the 'best available'. Needs have been brought up as a possibility, but despite what these fools are saying, Geelong has a severe shortage of speed through the midfield. With Tom Hawkins, who would have gone number 1 in this draft had he not been taken by the Cats as father son, coming gift wrapped to us, our needs would point in the direction of a midfielder with rocket boots.

I think it is the Pies who have the #8 pick. Unfortunately, all the cream will be gone after Geelong's #7 pick.

no way! maybe top 5 but not 1

I beg to differ.
Hawkins has been rated at one by some recruiters but I doubt we would have drafted a key forward ahead of Gibbs and Leuenberger in this year's draft. And if you checked the draft camp results you would see that Boak has "rocket boots" because he recorded a time of 2.96 for twenty metres.

It's not that we don't want him. There is players that will be better then him at seven though. We have had such a shortage in quality KPP since Gary Srn. Theres a high chance that either Thorpe or Seller, will fall to us, so why not stock up, and if either of those two don't fall Selwood you would think would fall to us. And he is a quality mid-fielder. And rated higher then Boak. When can use both pick 25 and 57 for speedy midfielders.

As I said Cats!!, Boak WOULD NOT be my choice for Geelong, but I have heard it a few times from a number of different sources, all of whom I would term reliable.

I'm happy to be proven wrong come Saturday, all i'm doing is just reporting what I have heard.
