Jhye Richardson

It's quite adorable when I see Richardson do that little ball raise thing when he raises the ball up to his head as he runs in...as if to say "where's the ball, oh there it is phew"

Hazelwood has definitely been poor. He has an ability to fall away to the left which compromises his action and delivery. When his pace drops and he is off his line he really is open to be hammered. I hope he can correct his action pre ashes and be that length bowler.

At his peak (around 2016/17), he was typically bowling good length deliveries at around 135 km/h.

In more recent seasons IMO he has tended to bowl too short and fast, so he isn't beating batsmen with movement like he once did.

I'll confess when I first saw him a few years ago I thought he was utterly crap and relying on his pace. He'd also seem to drop his head a bit when things weren't going right for him. But, to his absolute credit, he kept improving and working on his craft, and has been phenomenal in all three formats this summer. I hope he has a long international career.

He just looked really small and frail like a scrawny teenage kid who got lost in the way to the food stalls and wound up on the pitch

Hazlewood probably won't play Ashes, so it's almost a dead certainly to be the 3 pace bowlers we're playing against Sri Lanka.

Hazelwood will play in England. Starc might might but Hazelwood will. The only thing will be his fitness. He actually bowled like he was injured all summer it came of no surprise when I heard he was injured.

He has an undiagnosed hotspot in his back that might very well be a stress fracture.

I'd say he's more unlikely than likely at this stage.

He might have to play the A series, we will get a good gauge then either way if he is up to it.

The series is a few months away that should be plenty of time. I can’t see them not picking him.

Probably because at that stage, he was a teenage kid. He made his debut for WA a few weeks after his 19th birthday.

He's only 5'10" too, so he's not going to ever be a "big guy" in the same way that 6'4"-6'6" guys like Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood are.

It's weird seeing him in the huddle next to starc and Cummins, like seeing a couple of big gorillas with the little cub

Stress fractures take 8-12 weeks to heal, doing sweet fa too. I've had them in my legs, it's really, really tough to deal with.

That I agree with but from all reports it was precautionary as it was only the early signs of stress fractures. If and I do stress the word IF it was picked really early he might be right.

If there was a hot spot he would still have the standard recovery time to let it completely heal. A hot spot is practically a stress fracture.

We are both only speculating it really could just be absolute precaution. I'd rather him be there ahead of Starc and his bakery of pies at least!

Starc will be back bowling thunder soon. The batsmen will wish they had pies in their shoes when starcs reverse swinging missiles hit their feet at 155kms

What for 1 ball in 20? The batsmen are shivering I tell you. The bloke is a very ordinary red ball cricketer who had one purple patch against a poor SL side a few years ago and was half decent in an Ashes series that England were utter trash.

Cummins, Richardson, and Hazelwood is a better attack personally, who cares about the magic ball, just get more deliveries on and around off stump which is more important in England with a new Duke ball.

I do, but I'm realistic...and if I'm choosing between Hazelwood and Starc I'd be picking Hazelwood no questions asked. Ideally I'd pick Pattinson anyway over all three of them.

Yes. I agree. I said last week if pattinson was fit we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I'd still have starco in odis every day he's a gun in that format. And I'd have him in tests if he gets that radar right

ODI's and T20's no questions Starc plays, but I haven't seen him "get his radar right as you put it" in tests for over 12 months. That's a long time, England will eat his pies and then we have to as usual over bowl Haze, Cummins and Lyon. We can't be 1 bowler down basically. I'd send Starc off to the A tour and he has to demonstrate he can bowl tight and get wickets. Otherwise we don't play him.

I don't have a problem with that
