Saddened by the news of the death of Jim Stynes. I always thought he was an absolute gentleman, and I was amazed at the way he didn't let having cancer get him down.
Condolences to his family, and to all at The Melbourne Football Club. RIP Jim...

Hard to say things that don't appear too cliched.

I'm sure that anybody with an ounce of decency will be feeling saddened by his death, and send their condolences to his family.

RIP Jim Stynes

Ah shit. Terrible news. Rest easy Big Jim.....

Really an inspirational battle, will be missed greatly in the wider footbal community.

You wonder sometimes how people accomplish what they do, under such trying circumstances.

I mean I spend a lot of time stressing about work, house and family just getting through the day, and the special people like Jim just seem on another plane.

Anyway, we've lost another one to this prick of a disease and I hope his family cope as best they can. I'm sure Jim has left an indelible imprint on those cute bairns...

Great post Lach, I was thinking on the same lines. I was amazed at his stamina and ability to keep fronting the world at large with all the stuff going on behind the scenes that we only would know the fraction of.

RIP Jim.

The words "champion" and "legend" are too often used when talking about sportsmen.
Not so in the case of Jim Stynes. The man was a great of our beloved game. But he was more than that. He was a great of life. The work he did with the Reach foundation touched many. The work he did for the Melbourne Football Club will leave a legacy to be felt by many for years to come.
45 is way too young, but gee the big fella packed a fair bit in to those years.
As football fans we are privileged to have seen his on field exploits. But as Australians we are far more privileged to have had him adopt our country and add so much to it's society.

Vale Jim.

Such sad news, any young children to lose their dad, just awful. An outstanding man in every way, he's left a mark on so many. Dignity, loyalty, courage, humility, the fairest and the best. RIP Jimmy, you will be remembered well beyond your lifetime.
