With Kosi resigning with the saints who is our next uncontracted player we should target? Word is Jimmy Bartel is far from happy with the Cats latest offer! Could he be heading to the Blues via the PSD? Good chance I say :)

I hope so! Let's face it we need players in all positions but I think if we use all of our draft picks on good kisd and get hoepfully get 2 inside midfielders and 2 talls then we are on the right track. Maybe these guys:

- M.Michael: 191cm/100kg monster, leader and plays FB
- J.Bartel: inside midfielder, can kick a goal
- M.Hahn: 188cm/96kg; inside midfielder from the WB
- J.Schulz: 193cm/93kg from Richmond who plays CHB/CHF
- J.Crow: 197cm/95kg from the Bullanst who plays FB/CHB/Ruck
- M.Priddis: midfielder from Subiaco

what money are geelong offering him?

i'd prefer to spend money on a KPP- backmen (michael) or ruckmen (brogan)

Hasnt Brogan signed?

If Mal Michael wants to come to the Blues we should get him. Bartel might be possible in the PSD. Get some good kids in the draft to add to the mix.

I think around the $300k mark. While a ruckman or backman would be great I think we have bigger problems with our lack of depth in the midfield. I think we should go for Bartel with our PSD pick & maybe trade for a Brogan with perhaps Campo going home! If not Brogan maybe sound Jeff White out since Melbourne may have interest in Lance. Thoughts?

JEFF WHITE. In your dreams. You really think that Melbourne would be interested in trading White for Whitnall who is struggling at Carlton. And you'd imagine White wanting to play out his career wondering if he'll ebver play in a winning side again. You blues are all the same. Nick a player who is going to be something in the future other than another player at the end of his career.

Wouldnt say JEFF WHITE is setting the world on fire! In fact I think Whitnall has had a far better year. As for playing in a winning side you would prefer to be consistent not make finals one year then choke the next! I cant see Melbourne being any better than the Blues in the next 2 years anyway ;)

Really! That is a bit drastic isn't it? - either your predicting great sucess for Carlton in the next two years or somehow Melbourne is going to loose half its side and sink to the realms of obscurity. Nah! Our younger players are showing more promise and we aren't a side patched up with other clubs rejects and the way it is going, it next year being an even year is promising. Ha ha. But seriously, apart from a sudden form slump, you really reckon that Bruce, Yze, Johnstone, McLean, Sylvie, Green and Davey isn't a half decent running side that isn't going to be around for some years and all except Johnson have signed for the next few years. Yeah right. Perhaps you could swap Pagan for ND. He'd have a field day with some real talent to work with. :D

wow with such a team full of champions it's a miracle the dees aren't challenging for the flag every year ! remind us again when was the last time the dees actually won a flag . Jeff White is struggling big time and i don't believe he would be any better at Carlton than he is at the dees. maybe we will take Brad Green off your hands...say for David Clarke ??

How old would Mal Michael be anyway?

I think he turned 28 about a month ago so at the start of next year will be 28 which means can go on for roughly around 5 years in which we can groom another key backman....so either him or bartel is good enough for me but bartel's young age appeals more

It seems every time a good player becomes available he is signed up by his club again.
We are running out of good players to choose from with all these guns re-signing for their current clubs.
Maybe not much quality, if any, will be available come draft time.
:(

Wirripunda, Hunter, Dew, Bartel, Michael to name a few are all unsigned.

Dont want Hunter. Maybe Dew. Wirrpunda will stay at WCE. Bartel and Michael would obviously like.

im unsure about mal he seems a bit old but he could help out t-bird and livo a bit. we should hav a crack but i would rather a younger midfielder.

How about Yze?
Still only 27 (28 end of September)
Out of contract at years end,
we had a snip at him a couple of years ago.
For one of the older ones (Campo, Lappin)?

Nah not Yze, a few years ago yes - but his to old now. Will be just another player like Lappin.

Do agree with this one though,
he is built like a bag of briquettes and runs in straight lines.
Could cause all sorts of damage if given licence.
Re-signed this season so is unlikely to be traded.

I dont want to tell you how to boil Eggs but ..

most players move clubs these days only when:-

they are denied chances, they are looking to secure their future , they have a blowup at their present club and/or they are looking to come home from interstate.
I'd say Bartel would be 0 out 4. Two years ago he was up for contract he was almost in the market, he was made to work hard for his place but he is now a regular and would be in our best 15 group. The Geelong policy on payment is they try to spread the money evenly amunst this top 15 group, so instead of having 3-5 on huge money 12-15 on 300,000 +/-25,000.Id think as long as any player knows hes respected and hes been treated fairly and evenly handly most are happy to drop 20-40 thousand to stay within a their group, as far as I know he is quite happy and he comes from Geelong.

My thoughts , for what they are worth , use guys would be better looking for somebody over West thats a bit home sick and is lacking a regular game.If you get somebody that gives you 100 games plus, a regular player and doesnt throw your TPP out of kilter you will be much better in the long run.

Have a look at a kid that was on our Rookie list who has done well with you guys Carruso, you dont need to be star to go on and become one.
