Hey Guys,

I was flicking through Hirdy's BIO at work today and read that he hasn't spoken to father in over 2 years (keeping in mind the book was published in 2005).

Without reading the whole book, I'm curious to know why James and his father don't/didn't talk?

I don't think anyone outside his family knows why. He's never talked about it in public as far as I'm aware.

It's interesting to read his book and try to get a picture about what their relationship is like now or even in the past. When he does mention his old man it's very brief and he seems to brush over the subject.

He seems to look up to his late grandfather more than his father and writes more about his advice than his old man's.

One good piece of advice from his father he does talk about from his junior days was something like.." Don't be a sheepdog and hover around packs, go in there and get the ball..."

Was this the case for his entire life or just more recently?
