Both at a reasonable strength to go against each, should be good to watch.

Damn, that forward line looks pedestrian. Ready to see the ball bouncing straight back out.

You’re right although if you swapped Phillips for Varcoe it would look better with him, Goldsack and Brown capable with pressure.

It’s a much better team on paper from the last JLT.

I’d almost put Adams and Maynard on the half forward flanks, Murray to a back flank and Varcoe in the forward pocket and we’d look better still.

Adams doesn’t work for me off a back flank but can kick a goal and pressure/defensive forward swapping into the middle might be better for him.... and us!

Damn, what you on about!

HF: Josh Smith (half back flanker), Ben Reid (all Australian center half back), Callum Brown (midfielder in training)
F: Tom Phillips (Wingman), Tyson Goldsack (Traditional backman), Mason Cox (ruckman)

Oh, probably that!
I like to go to the footy to see some stars kick a bag! Surely Kirby could fit in for Smith at least! Didn't we already try Goldsack forward?? Seriously, didn't Goldsack have his best season in defence last year? Why is Goldsack in the forward line this week? What's going on?

It's frustrating enough being a Collingwood supporter these days without them reverting back to things that they forgot didn't work already. Additionally, if we played with the same positions as we did at the end of last season (when we won a few games and didn't do too bad) - we might actually carry in the same momentum into the season.

Smith has been training all pre season as a forward
Ben Reids played more forward then back since 2014
Brown plays MID/FWD
Phillips will swap with WHE on the Wing
Goldsack played forward in Intra club.
Cox will swap up forward in the ruck with Grundy.

Not hard

What's not hard? I understand why the players were selected. The point of my post was to highlight that a big part of my enjoyment in going to the footy is seeing forwards who are dedicated forwards play forward. There isn't one player there you would be confident in kicking four or more goals, c'mon mate. We kicked 36 points last week. Maybe Ben Reid, but he'd have to have a big game.

Have an opinion on Goldsack returning forward after he seemed to work better in defence last time it was tried? You like it? That was the part of the post I was interesting in getting some conversation on.

Our forward line looks as impotent as Hugh Hefner in his final weeks, seriously these guys may have been trialing up forward but heck, im concerned .
Phillips, Smith and Brown as fwd flankers/pockets, other teams must be quaking in their footyboots......
Surely this isn’t our fwd setup RND1!

It’s like they’re throwing the magnets at the board and seeing where they land.

I agree on Adams better users off half back needed and he adds more value in the middle IMHO

Scharenberg? No JLT games? Yet Brody Mihocek gets a game?
Future doesn't look good for a number 6 draft pick.....

Still only what.. 10 games into his career is Shaz.. mihocek has played a shit load of VFL games right? Actually probably more seasoned than Shaz.

Still a bright future ahead.. I'm hoping anyway.

What's the club's honest assessment of him. No idea

I have no idea either. But i'm concerned with Buck's comments on Scharenberg.. Along the lines that Schaz needs to play tall. So then we decide to put Moore back there, and along with Dunn, & Howe, i'm not sure where they think he fits in.

Personally, i would like to try him as a third tall forward. His marking & disposal are his strengths. He should be able to play the defensive forward role as well. Just my thoughts...

Wherever Goldsack is, he gives 110%. Just because he's named forward doesn't mean he's playing there the entire time.

Shaz needs to build himself Imo. He's too light.
