Joachim Johansson retires

Young guy crueled by injury after injury after injury. One of the biggest serves on tour, this guy took out Roddick (defending champion) at USO 2004 and reached the Semi-Finals; then followed up at AO 2005 by serving 51 aces (a record I believe) against Agassi and still losing!

Only 26 years old, this guy should have had a big career.

Real pity, he had potential a few years ago.

Where does this leave the once awesome Swedish tennis? The only player they had in the men's draw was 32-year-old Thomas Johansson.

Shame for Swedish tennis as the once powerful force is reduced to not much at all.

Joachim was a very good player for this to happen to. Had he been fit a huge chance in the majors and always capable of an upset

Yeah I was about to mention Magnus Norman too. Should've had more of a career for sure, if it weren't for his run with injuries

I remember about 4-5 years ago when Joachim was ranked around #10 in the world, he came out to Adelaide and played Olivier Richus in the final.

I have never seen a more brutal performance in my entire life, he was pounding winner after winner, ace after ace - it was unbelievable. Then all of the sudden he disappeared of the face of the earth!!! Came back at the start of 2007, then retired. Now he's back, but I doubt he can get anywhere near the form he displayed 4-5 years ago.
