Good idea guys. The club should hire you to sit on the fence and scream "just kick the farken thing" That'll fix 'em.
What happens when Powell-Pepper comes back in and plays well.
Then Cockers starts kicking goals out of his rectum.
Then we pick up Zac Bailey next year.
It means Joe Richards becomes depth.

Your entire argument is based off the assumption the players don't practice their skills which is a ridiculous notion.

These are professional footballers, they know the goals are the big sticks and it needs to go through them, but making it an emphasis in a match review is pointless.
My argument is not based on that assumption. My argument is based on continued improvement. I don't care whether it is football or business, you identify areas in need of improvement and fix them.

There is a difference between practicing skills and doing them well.

Missing easy goals should be one of the biggest parts of match reviews because we've lost about four games this year because of it and nothing has changed.

It's not a skill issue, it's a mental issue.

The yips aren't fixed by talking about it all the time.

You can practice goal kicking all day at training, but they're probably nailing those shots when the pressure is off.

The only way to move forward is to keep being in those situations, and to eventually move past the fear.

Yeah, whatever it is. Fix it.

I think it is a mixture of both.

TOTALLY agree with Carr not throwing Georgie & Co under the bus for inaccurate goal kicking. And B4 anyone goes off, do you really think that the players are not constantly practicing goal kicking? That the line coaches dont work with them on it each week? Seriously?

Also just ridiculous that someone suggested it be part of the Monday review. C'mon! That is absolutely NOT the purpose of the match review!

Carr: Now team we are going to discuss our next review point from the SUNS game. Stewy, you have some vision to show the boys?
Dew: Yes Carrie, I have. Our video boys have done a great job with the edits. Here is a video clip of Georgie kicking for goal. Have a close look guys ... He runs up and ... he misses! Now we are going to zoom in to show you what he should have done instead. Look closely, do you see those two high sticks? Well, instead of kicking to the left of them, we want to be kicking it straight through the middle of the high ones!
Carr: Excellent vision there Stewy, that will really help the boys next week!
🥴

As usual, straw man arguments and loser talk on this forum.
LOL ... "Straw-man argument" accusations only hold up when the original statement has some actual merit!

And look, I am not saying the premise of your ranting here is incorrect. I actually do! The mis-kicking needs to be sorted out, it is just the manner that you suggest is flawed. No way in the world do you team-review goal kicking inaccuracies, as facetiously highlighted above. That being said, we know that Georgie & some of the players are prone to the yips in certain circumstances, but I will publicly eat my Port scarf if this hasnt been discussed with the team at training, and if the coaches havent put into place a plan of action to address the issue.

Carr has gone out of his way in interviews to dismiss the kicking as an issue. That is deliberate IMO. He knows Georgie for example is a good kick, but has some mental traits that needs to be overcome. He doesnt want the media jumping on his back every week heaping more pressure on the lad.

However, this is not Monday-review material, and 100% this is being dealt with by the coaches ... Just not publicly to titillate the media and public, and cranky supporters.

Imo Joe has become the invisible man lately, somewhat useless, unless he starts to do something radical like impacting the ruddy game he will become another PA hasbeen!

This cannot be a serious comment surely lol
His best game for a while was his last game when he was leading goal scorer with 3.
Up till then he’s had a poor year compared to last year.
Can’t drop him after last week so I’d say see how he goes for a while.
Put it this way there’s others that have played worse and have got games.

Comparable to last year he is averaging:
More disposals, marks, tackles, inside 50's, goal assists and clearances.
Same goal scoring averages.
The only numbers he is down in are is that he is averaging less frees for and more frees against.

By the end of the season he probably ends up having the same statistical output as he did last season. From the eye test, it felt before the GC game that he was off for a few weeks.

I thought he'd been playing wing instead of forward this year, hence the higher possessions and almost no goals until last game. If I am mistaken and he has been forward the whole time, then it's been a very poor goal output most of this year.

I don't think you know what a straw man argument is, Tibbs. That's OK.

But the thing is kicking for goal is not the only skill issue down at the club. Our tackling is still average to poor and has been since Hinkley. Our midfield has struggled with ground ball gets for a long time. What I'm trying to say is that there are skill errors that haven't been improved in a long time. Kicking for goal is just one of them.

I want accountability. I really don't care how it is done. It's not being cranky, Tibbs, you seem to be more interested in what the fans and media are thinking but it's about demanding professionalism of the coaches and players. Even if the fans and media are quiet about the yips, players will cannibalise themselves if they continually lose games for their team through bad goal kicking.

Georgiades is a bit at the crossroads. He really has to fix this or it could get ugly. Ever since he's become the number 1 forward, his kicking for goal has gotten worse. At the moment, we are not 'that' interested in winning games as we are still rebuilding but when the time comes, he's going to have start nailing them.

It is why I asked if Dougie Cochrane is an alpha male type forward in this thread. If Dougie is that number 1 forward who does it all then it would mean less pressure on Mitch. And for whatever you want to say about Mitch, he's carrying our forward line at the moment.

I know exactly what a straw-man argument is .. The point I make is that your argument makes no sense, so I made fun of it with a parody.

Now if you think that every parody is a "straw-man argument" then "Hello!" ... "Welcome to Bigfooty!"

PS ... Happy to accept your other points mentioned re skills, because they have some voracity. It was just the rave about Georgie's goal-kicking I found off-beam
