Great player and super servant of the club.

Forced to play out of position for numerous years and always did so to the best of ability.

All Australian, Best and Fairest and Gentleman of the game.

Served his fellow players as president of the AFLPA.

Well done Joel. You have been poorly treated by Jade and would probably get a game in better sides than Richmond beyond 2009.

Feel sorry for the guy, fantastic servant of an underachieving club for so many years when I'm sure he could have moved somehow. All of a sudden Jade comes in and it's him in the two's. Not saying it was wrong in principal ans I'm a big fan of the complete rebuild, but it wasn't right what he did. The guys only 31! and would be better than half the guys in their team at the moment anyway

the guys a deadset champion. numerous all australian honours coupled with the clubs captaincy at one point. is one of those guys that could play anywhere. great servant of the club. didnt always get a lot of the ball but always used it well. and he could definitely get picked up next year by any club if he chose to play on.

didnt always get alot of the ball?? He consistently racked up high possesions.
Sad day for dreamteam.

Great player and a great gentleman. Best of luck to him outside his football career. His loyalty to Richmond through the thick and thin will not be forgotten. :thumbsu:

Best of luck to him, ability wise he should be on a list next year but looking very unlikely now.

I think he suffered a bit from expectation. A lot of people seemed to think that around 2001 he'd turn into a champion of the league but he never did, and so the media and quite few fans held this against him, rather than appreciating him for the very good player that he was.
