Have seen quite a bit of him in the last years and he really has got talent. I have no idea why the Lions are letting him go so cheaply as I feel he has played some really solid games for them. He would fit perfectly in our backline - rarely loses the one-on-ones and reads the play very well. I know we are interested in Jesse Smith but what do you think the chances are of picking up Macdonald?

Reluctantly I will mention Brad Fisher too, I feel he may not be a very popular nominee amongst this board but I don't think he's that bad a player and might be a good replacement for Mooney once he's gone.

What do we all think?

They're letting him go cheaply because they couldn't organise a trade and he refused a new contract.

Realistically he would not have done this unless he was sure he would get somewhere in the PSD.

Thus I think he will and thus he won't be around at our pick (if we have one) so it's a moot point.

Brad Fisher replacing Mooney? :D He couldn't even replace a 12 yr old moon :D

Fisher is like Gamble.
A flanker that can float around third man up for a high mark, doesnt get it enough, do enough or have any presence.
Not key position at all.

Mcdonald would be a handy pickup to have in the backline though.

Think Matthew McCarthy but with even less ability.I'm suprised his effort in the VFL GF a few weeks ago didn't get him sacked the next day.The guy couldn't hit a target 15m away.

He actually used to be quite a decent player for the Blues, not sure what happened to him...

Haha, I like it. I played with Fish at Eastern Ranges going back about ohh 7 years now, I guess he was one of the better players there that year with really good hands (and footy brain) but his disposal (and goal kicking) was pretty poor and definitely let him down.

Let's just say he got a bit too arrogant when he was picked up as well...

He did show a bit for Carlton a few years ago, but I wouldn't want to see us consider him.
