This thread will probably get no replies, but I have to get this off my chest.

Joel Macdonald's name is not spelt "McDonald", nor is it spelt "MacDonald". I know it's complicated, but it is merely "Macdonald" with no capital D in the middle.

I know you probably don't care but I think it is important that we know how to spell our own player's name.

That is all.

P.S. Our number 9's name is spelt "Trengove", not "Trengrove" but that was more for the media. Most of our posters seem to have figured that one out.

I agree that the spelling of his name is very important, if we miss spell his name we are bound to miss pronounce it as well. Making us look like fools to opposition supporters as we cheer him on in blissful ignorance

To opposition supporters as well as Green and Moloney. It's spelt W-O-N-A-E-A-M-I-R-R-I
 
Watching the replay I notice Tony Shaw is insistent on calling Jamar "JARMAR".

Much like the real pronounciation of Prestigiacomo I don't care if it's technically right (and knowing Shaw the goose it's not), we just DO NOT DO IT THAT WAY.

Related - Tony Shaw can **** off.

The key thing to remember when spelling Wona's name is the AEA, that's where it usually goes wrong.

The history behind this is the lack of schooling behind people 200-300 years ago. When it came time to sign their names on official documents, say immigration papers to Australia ect... The judge or whoever would ask them to spell it and as such often incorrect spelling was used. Hence why you often have many versions of one name..... This is just one reason and many others exist.

I don't know why people cannot grasp this fact yet, of all the people on Melbourne's list, his name should be most known by the footy community.
 
I personally hated raido talk back muppet's and commentators calling Travis Johnstone, Travis Johnson.

I hope the fox sports commentary team is reading this. All of them said 'Trengrove'. How hard is for a professional commentator to know the name of the number 2 draft pick?

This thread should really be about how good he's been for us this season. He brings so much to our team, but primarily the experience and poise of a player that's been in the system for a little longer than our younguns. Of course that's not disregarding the performances of Green, Davey, and Junior.
