Reported in the age today that John Anthony was taken to the Alfred Hoespital after a nasty haed collision, during training today.Didn't say how serious the injury was.Hope the kid's alright.

Soft, I ran into a sharp edge of an old rusty clothesline playing backyard cricket. I never went to hospital.

Joking, let's hope it isn't too serious and his PS isn't interrupted too much.

Re Nicks, a bad collision, that left Cox unconscious for 10 mins and JA with terrible pain down his neck and head region. Anyway taken to hospital for scans etc. going to see a neurosurgeion also, but at this stage no structural damage but will be very sore for a while. Not sure how long on the sidelines, but with head and neck injuries the longer the better. A bit of a blow I reckon.

injuries starting to mount.

I was there at training today but it happened on the other side of the ground. A trainer ran out with a stretcher which isn't a good sign and then an ambulance came. The ambulance was on the field for quite awhile which I took as a good sign i.e not rushing off to hospital and my first thought for some reason was someone had done a knee so I was busy scanning if it was any senior players eg someone like Didak.

I spoke to another pie punter and he said was it was JA. Terrible news and lets all hope he is ok. :thumbsu:

Some notes on today's training.....
Josh, Johno, Rocca, Lonie, O'Bree, Rhyce and Tarks from the mature list all MIA. I don't think I missed anyone and I don't think it means anything other than they weren't there.

Bucks - looks ripped and like a god. Trained like an utter champion as expected. I like it the way most players yell out "skipper" if that's any indication he'll be skipper till he retires.
Scotty B - very solid.
Maxwell - really has stepped up with maturity and gives direction.
Heath - very solid and can only expect to be on the field too if not more.
Dales - pure gem!!! Very, very special talent this kid.
Pends - training well and would expect a full senior season.
Leon - trained well and would expect him to pick up the form from last year.
Travis - HUGE! Another special talent and also did some ruck work.
Rusling - HUGE! Hope his shoulder holds. Quick off the mark, kicked ok but not sure about contested marking.
Reid - kicking action like Travis. looked good but needs muscle.
D1ck - great kick but needs muscle. Fast but am guessing he'll play at Willi for next year. Should get a run in the NAB games so who knows what could happen.
Clarke - He looked like Health's unknown little brother. A little ripper from the amount of time learning the game. Didn't know he kicked on the left and has Licca's action although kicked to target. ;) He and D1ck worked alot together.
Wakes - he's playing for the club and helping the young kids.
Swan - drilled well and just a great engine. Expect come game time he'll go like last year.
Bryan and Richards did lots of ruck work. Richard at least looked really fit at last.
Egan - went alright and should play every senior match well. Looks like he belongs playing in the seniors.
Medhurst - Poor Paul. Has the most pressure on anyone I reckon from a Pie supporter point of view and I gotta say he didn't impress me. Did some nice tackles but didn't seem to have the hunger I expected from someone that was thrown a life line .... and a life line to a great club at that. He didn't seem injured and wasn't really sidelined as having one. He did some minor 1on1 kicking but looked bored. From the handball game he was in with the other onballers he might indeed have a chance to play midfield - IF he pulls he's finger out.

Didak, Licca, Presti and Harry did some small drills at the start with the group and then did laps and or 1on1 kicking to a trainer. Broadie, Clement, Goldsack basically walked laps and handballs drills to each other. Hmmm!??!??! Not sure what to make of it.

Malthouse - I was impressed how hands on he was kicking the ball and directing drills with the young defenders and forwards. Might get a game at Carlton ;)

If you have any questions let me know.

Great report 3066!

FWIW, Medders had his tonsils taken out, which explains his absence, and this is only his first run back (apart from Monday in the light duties group).

Reportedly my new love child finds the ball at will. Can you confirm this?

Ah well I'll stand corrected then if he recently had his tonsils out. No wonder he looked bored for the 1on1 kicking because he was probably drained after the handball game they had.

It's hard to say if he finds the pill well though. The hand ball game consisted of 2 teams of about 8 a side in an area the size of half a bball court. The idea was keepings off via handball (with tackles) and have a player run with the ball through a goal. Every player wore either padded legs, padded top or both to probably prevent getting corks and the like. That's every player except one of course .... BUCKS!! LOL. The man is soooo impressive.

It's congested stuff and physical cardio with the ball being randomly bounced or thrown up by a trainer so the ball went anywhere. Again he laid some good tackles and could take a tackle well. Very strong in the legs holding his ground.

Personally I don't have a problem with him training with the onballers but would prefer he uses those skills in the forward line moving the ball where needed. I want him to be the dangerous small forward that has previously proved he can mark and kick a bag. Good luck Meds.

First saw a player down in Orange was down at the southern end, with about five trainers and Licca around him, with Maxy and Ruz sprinting off towards the sheds for a stretcher. Got the word from Maxy on the way back that it was indeed JA and "he'll be right".

They took (and rightfully so) an awful long time in getting him all set and off to hospital. Heavy business. Here's hoping he'll be ok, I'm sure he will.

In brighter news, Clement trained minus a moonboot, Dids took part in some running with the main group and Medhurst was on deck doing all that was asked of him. Heartening day prior to the incident, seeing everyone raring today.

*Proper* [read: CFC.com.au] report up today/tomorrow.

He's doing OK at the moment. He has his neck brace off, but won't be training for around 4-6 weeks. I think the toughest part will be losing fitness and game time.

Thanks for that. Wish him all the best again from us all here. Healthy recovery before quick recovery. Long season to get his fitness... As long as hes ready by finals time :p
